The world ended with no warning, and all that was left… was hope.A truce between the humans of the Twelve Colonies and the Cylons—intelligent robots designed by humankind—lasts for 40 tense and silent years. Battlestar Galactica picks up just as the Cylons commit mass genocide against humanity. Only the Battlestar Galactica (an old warship about to be decommissioned and turned into a museum) and those souls fortunate enough to be aboard other starships were able to survive the attack. In the aftermath, the Galactica's commanding officer, William Adama, finds himself responsible for safeguarding the last remnants of the human race—fewer than 50,000 desperate survivors. Meanwhile, the annihilation of the Colonial government results in the succession of the Secretary of Education, Laura Roslin, to the presidency. Driven by prophetic visions and political necessity, the Galactica travels through uncharted space in hopes of finding the mythical, lost 13th colony—Earth.

One thing I’ve noticed throughout the 4 seasons, those frak’n hatch doors on Galactica always sound like frak’n crickets when they open and close them! Surely someone on Caprica had some WD40 to spray on those hinges! 😁

errrwhocares 5 points 2 years ago. 5/5 stars.

I fraking love this show.. it’s sooo old, but still one of the best sci-fi shows ever

Twixtid 4 points 3 months ago.

Stargate fan here, think Id enjoy this one?

Kardat 6 points 3 months ago*.

And to be clear, episode named ‘33’ is the first episode /AFTER/ the pilot/miniseries (miniseries part 1 & 2). Start with the miniseries, if there are links for it. And if that does not hook you in, you’re not human and you know not to go further. ;]

Twixtid 3 points 3 months ago.

Im looking forward to starting it, I am half way through season 5 of atlantis then I am moving onto this as soon as thats done.

Dead like me is a classic!

Great goodness from the Brian Fullerverse. Nice with Wonderfalls & Pushing Daisies. Mars et Avril has Canadian Caroline Dhavernas- from Wonderfalls in it.

I have is why I am search of other series from the same general era, after Stargate I will come on over here and binge on this franchise, following this I believe I will make my way over to Andromeda, I heard that was a cheesy good time, and ummm….Earth Final Conflict I think ti’s called?

random000 12 points 2 months ago*. 5/5 stars.

Lexx & Farscape are both late 90s-early 2000s spaceship - ensemble crew based shows that have rabid followings. Roddenberry developed ideas before he died that were good, but couldn’t compete with The Planet Of The Apes series, so the networks passed on them.

https://www.primewire.tf/movie/140106-genesis-ii
https://www.primewire.tf/movie/158475-planet-earth
Those are the original ideas that were later developed into Andromeda & Earth Final Conflict.

Each of those change drastically from season to season, trying to find out what they are. Lexx & Farscape had no such problems & knew from beginning to end what they were with sharp focused intent & story arcs. However Lexx became less adult when they went from Showtime to Sci-Fi. Farscape stayed the same when it was picked up by Sci-Fi, before nbc hijacked it, turning it into syfy.

If you want to advance into the 2010 era and out of space, Sarah Connor is a good series built around the whole Skynet Terminator idea and so is Falling Skies.

https://www.primewire.tf/tv/9876-terminator-the-sarah-connor-chronicles
https://www.primewire.tf/tv/781-falling-skies

Or you could stay in the spaceship & go only about a decade back with the original Dark Matter & its close cousin Killyjoys & also the Lost In Space remake:

https://www.primewire.tf/tv/28346-killjoys
https://www.primewire.tf/tv/125237-lost-in-space

Everyone knows about The Orville, but don’t forget to make fun of space stuff with Red Dwarf, Hyperdrive & Simon Pegg’s Spaced:

https://www.primewire.tf/tv/7062-red-dwarf
https://www.primewire.tf/tv/1355166-red-dwarf-the-first-three-million-years

Stay with the ensemble, but go further off the deep-end & out of space with both Dirk Gentlys:

https://www.primewire.tf/tv/50383-dirk-gently
https://www.primewire.tf/tv/163710-dirk-gentlys-holistic-detective-agency

All this may be a bit much, but it could take anyone beyond retirement years ㋡

Wow, I actually can’t find words to thank you for this list of shows, truly, thank you. I have seen a good chunk of these but many I haven’t. One vastly under rated show, Falling Skies, was surprised how well it was done. Once again, thank you for this list, I screenshot it and dropped it in my documents folder. If I could upvote this 10x I would.

random000 5 points 2 months ago*. 5/5 stars.

No problem, was just going with stream of consciousness on that. Most people know all the dirty space stuff like Expanse & Firefly, but some of the other stuff has fell off the radar, so very happy you like it.

This is also fun. Stoopid, but fun:

Im commenting on this to pin it on my notifications cause it took me 2 hours to comb through my notifications to find this, thank you again!!!!!

Kardat 3 points 2 months ago.

And we need to add The Expanse, which is also a little more recent, and a benchmark in tv sci-fi.

For sure, that’s good dirty space stuff.
This is also a fun thing Conan O’Brien did:

Alien 3 points 2 months ago.

Lily23 3 points 2 months ago.

I would add Firefly (cowboys in Space) to this list
and I just rewatched Defiance but had to get it from the library as links weren’t readily available

random000 4 points 2 months ago. 5/5 stars.

Right on, good following for that for sure.
This is in the dystopian “dirty space” type of genre. That vibe is rooted with the Bladerunner, Alien stuff. It’s grounded, not in space, and is very cornball all the way, but is 2000 cheese. Good cheese, but cheeeeezy & fun anyway:

I recall seeing that show “back in the day”. Couldn’t afford cable TV so I was stuck watching whatever the antenna could bring me. We had a choice of the religion channel, the all Moesha channel & the “wtf is this” channel. That was my favorite. That channel brought me the original Iron Chef series dubbed into English & it was utterly fascinating. It also had cheesy sci-fi & Hercules & Xena. I miss those days (kinda).

random000 4 points 2 months ago. 5/5 stars.

Same with Earth2. We were touring heavily in the 90s & cable tv wasn’t a thing for us since we weren’t at home, so we mostly watched hotel stuff like The Simpsons, Stargate SG-1, Xena, Hercules & a Canadian show called Psi Factor, if we were lucky. Sometimes Outer Limits, Liquid TV, Beavis & Butthead, maybe The Monkees or Ren & Stimpy.

Thanks for the heads up on Earth2 since last time we looked at it, there were no posts for it, but now there’s plenty of good ones.

Alien 3 points 2 months ago.

Someone did add Firefly (see below) and they mention the movie. But unless you know the title of the movie some might have trouble searching for it.

Ah, yes. see it now. Just a link so I didn’t see the name in my first glance

There’s also Ascension, sort of an alternate history mini in the For All Mankind vein, even though the posts are not currently sufficient for most viewers.

Appreciate this, thank you!. Honestly most of the stuff on TV these days is pure garbage so I’ve been going I been going back in time of late so to speak, and alot of these shows are so good, its sad to see where the media has gone in terms of what the general public finds entertaining now a days. All these shows have something about them I can’t put my finger on, they just got a “feel good” feeling ya know? Unaffected by modern day polotics or agenda’s, just pure entertainment for the people and of course the awards lol.

greyfur 5 points 3 months ago.

Yeah, you probably would, I was a fan of the original, and while they changed a few things, which I at first was not a big fan of, I rather liked how they did this, and it had a pretty decent ending. And liked Stargate myself, so if you like Science fiction, you will probably like this as well. Can’t hurt to give it a shot and see if you get sucked in.

errrwhocares 3 points 2 months ago. 5/5 stars.

I loved Stargate too.. It’s worth a watch.. promise

Boraes 1 points 3 months ago.

Definitely. I tried to watch the original when it ran for a while on UK tv in the 90’s/00’s (Think it was then), but never got into it. Was just a bit too ‘old’ looking for me, plus starting at a random episode throws you off an makes it hard to catch up.
Watched the new version from the start when it came out my everlasting crush on Katie Sackhoff began :p.
Make sure you watch the mini movies/separate Feature episodes like Razor, and Razor flashbacks too when you get to the right time in the series. It’s the same actors/people and you’ll understand why.

Twixtid 4 points 3 months ago.

I will definitely do that thank, I do appreciate being given these types of timelines for series as coming into something thats been around as a new viewer can get confusing where to start and how to watch everything chronologically, so thank you very much!

DownrightDebonaire 1 points 3 months ago.

Yes and no. I was introduced to the show by someone who wasn’t into Sci-Fi. They described the new BG as “Survival as a way of life” The events of the Pilot/TV movie sets that up. It’s a very good show, but there really is no down time. Everything is about surviving the next big issue

My only reason for “No” is, that there is no real charm and humor that Stargate has. There are funny moments and people love Starbuck, but it takes itself much more seriously than Stargate. So if your ONLY reason to watch is to continue the Stargate buzz you might be disappointed. If you just want a great sci-fi space show you will not be disappointed,

Kardat 3 points 2 months ago.

@Twixtid, thanks to the heroism of an uploader, the BSG Pilot MiniSeries is up. Enjoy!

Twixtid 3 points 2 months ago.

I know I just finished them, I am on episode 2 of the series now!!!

RoboPhone 5 points 5 years ago.

Sweeping Sci-Fi saga, depicting Humanities final struggle to survive extinction from their own technology run amok.

See also the prequel, Caprica.

Thanks Robo, I was unaware of this series.

Battlestar Galactica seasons 1-2
Battlestar Galactica: Razor

Piglet 2 points 2 months ago*.

In 1978 the original Battlestar Galactica hit the airwaves and starred Lorne Green (from the tv western Bonanza and the spelling of his name is correct, Lorne) and was so futuristic. In some episodes you see someone talking to a computer and it actually has the dialogue appear on the screen. Sound familiar? I get emails from my brother and I know he is not typing the email because of the misspelling of my name and a few other things. And flip phones remind of the communicator that you see in the original Star Trek. I was a teenager when this hit the airwaves and little did I know 40+ years later that the technology we saw on these shows were going to be developed and made better for commercial use. Makes me wonder about the people who came up with these devices for these tv shows and did they get any credit for their inventions 40+ years later.

LegitBoss 1 points 4 years ago.

Great series but what Earth are they trying to get to? Past, present-day or future?

intilza 5 points 3 years ago.

It was about 10,000 years in our past

Sally 1 points 2 months ago.

Rather the old school…… with Jane Seymour .. Loren Greene… dirk Benedict…o yeah
