After Earth is torn apart by religious differences and the human race teeters on the edge of extinction, an atheistic android architect sends two of his creations, Mother and Father, to start a peaceful, godless colony on the planet Kepler-22b. Raised by Wolves follows Mother and Father as they attempt to raise human children in this mysterious virgin land, a treacherous and difficult task that's jeopardized by the arrival of the Mithraic, a deeply devout religious order of surviving humans. As the androids make contact with this zealous and dangerous people, they struggle to control the beliefs of their fiercely self-determining children.

Gypsy is a derogatory Slur. Shame on you for using it as a joke. Not only are you racist, but also sexiest towards Romani women.

Yellowbeard 14 points 4 years ago.

I like, it got my science fiction noodle going. It’s quite original, there seems to be baddies and goodies on both sides - I think I have figured out a couple of the plot items that haven’t been revealed yet, I will not spoil… I am hoping for me to be wrong about these and for the plot to take a few twists - roll on next week…
(Nutflux has us all spoiled releasing all episodes at once I says!)

This is badass!! Love it!!

Watched this out of a sci fi interest thinking nothing of it. Turned out this series is a sleeper hit. Fantastic take on a Earth colony of the future. Well worth watching if you liked the old 70s vibe of Star Trek type tv shows.

Mind — blown

marino4ever 11 points 4 years ago*.

The first 3 episodes were very good. A promising start.

The two leads, Amanda Collin (Mother) and Abubakar Salim (Father) are fantastic. Their characters and performances command attention at all times. I’m not entirely sold on the central conflict of the story, as it felt heavy handed. I hope it justifies itself in the long run, although I have my doubts. Still, I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.

expresso 3 points 4 years ago*. 5/5 stars.

I thought about what you said. Yeah. I think the heavy-handed-ness is a throwback to classic Original Star Trek. Think William Shatner and We Are Making This Point By Hitting You With A 2x4. In other words, it’s (glorious) melodrama. To me people are reacting exactly the same way as when the Witcher came out (how dare you not be serious !!! with my TV) and that is refreshing because we all have too much deadly serious on our plates now.

Um…their wasnt anything even closely resembling a spoiler in this comment.
He didn’t mention anything to do with the plot he mentioned the actors who are involved and that he liked it and why.

At this point I’m quite convinced that Jack doesn’t have any idea what a spoiler actually even is.

marino4ever 10 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

My apologies, I didn’t detail any specific plot points so I didn’t think it qualified as containing spoilers. I’ll edit.

greyfur 8 points 4 years ago. 5/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

I watched all 3, was great, and agree fully, and saw no spoiler at all myself.

greyfur 10 points 4 years ago. 5/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

Ahh, I see, Mein Fhurer, but your comment was not needed.Just that you seemed to need to was enough. Validated you need for control. I just stated that I thought there was no spoiler, and in truth, there was none, just you wanted to control someone. Never said anything about it being a ‘call’. Just said I didn’t see a spoiler, and now all of a sudden you see a threat to your alleged ‘authority’.

Shyte. And I’ll add for the brothers and sisters on the other side of the pond, ‘Bollox’,WTF authority? That which you think you were given by those on a frakin’ streaming site?

Look,I’m Going to make it easy on you, as I know damn well you and the whole site have been gunning for me to say anything, and this is just proof of it, so here you go. In the words of the great Scotsman who posted this first, and can’t remember the man’s name…

‘Bite me,ya bloody daft moonfruit…’!

Now,feel free to mute that…

So Good!

expresso 7 points 4 years ago*. 5/5 stars.

I think I have finally figured out how I’m responding to this as sci fi and why it’s disappointing to those who want science-y wondrous future technology space opera. It has a very organic retro original Star Trek / Philip K Dick / 2001 / Heinlien vibe going on. It requires human beings to figure out what they are capable of doing with nothing but their own ingenuity and their personal social capital. 5/5 for making me actually think deep thoughts

Akrimay 3 points 3 years ago.

simoine43 6 points 4 years ago. 5/5 stars.

ac1d 4 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

3 episodes of raised by wolves 1st episode was hard to get thru til 30 min mark when the necromancer appears then it picks up a lil and then drops again -great acting and filming by Ridley Scott of ALIEN fame (shame they dont have any ) is superb BUT its basically boring as fokk the quadraped aliens are kinda cool but we aint seen close up yet of them -even travis fimmel cant save this one -will watch COUPLE more to see if story grabs me (some ONLINE CRITICS SAID THEY DINT GET INTO IT TIL TH 4TH OR 5TH EPISODE when teh story really opens up ) so there is stil some hope -not diggin the religious /athiest wars storyline atm

kingarco66 10 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

eh I dunno its kinda cool .. the Mithraic religion was an early competitor for christianity in roman times which christianity stole a few tricks from, like putting a disk behind the heads of saints etc in art .. thats the disk of Sol (the Sun) .. obviously Ridley wanted to talk about christianity without attracting too much flak, so Mithraism is a good cypher for it .. its pretty obvious they look and act like early christians, costumes, haircuts, adopting roman style names etc, even being very cautious about questioning or free speech lest they get censured for it .. Im sure we will see some of that later on :)

[deleted]
homercholo 5 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Comparing the Mithraic religion to Christianity is not a spoiler. Why don’t you get that stick out of your ass and actually learn some history you uneducated fool.

starphlo 2 points 3 years ago. 5/5 stars.

Travis Finnel brought me here and I’m so glad! Fantastic series.

Are their really only 6 epis for the 2nd season? I don’t see more on IMDB.com

Kill Kenny 3 points 3 years ago.

Episode 8: March 17

AlphaD 1 points 3 years ago.

Who killed Kenny!

irdulili 1 points 3 years ago. 4/5 stars.

Rotten Tomatoes also says “6 Episodes” for this season, spelled out like that. Kind of a bummer. Usually a studio orders a small 1st season then more for the 2nd and subsequent seasons so long as it’s doing good. And everyone seems to love this.

augusts1 2 points 3 years ago.

@irdulli yea it’s odd since the 1st season was 10 epis. I bet the lesser amount has something to do w/the pandemic & cutbacks due to the studio conserving on productions since theaters were closed & then opened w/limited capacity so revenue has been decreased significantly.

expresso 1 points 3 years ago. 5/5 stars.

We are at 8 epis now…

UGuess 2 points 3 years ago. 5/5 stars.

such an excellent series. maybe they ran out of ideas or actors have other gigs but I hope someone picks it up

Alien 3 points 3 years ago.

Salim, who plays Father, first shared the news that “Raised by Wolves” was in danger earlier Friday, writing in a series of tweets: “It’s not surprising, especially after the news of the mergers and what is happening at Warner, that a lot of shows are not having their stories finished. And unfortunately, one of those shows is Raised by Wolves. Nothing has been publicly shared yet. And there is a reason for that. An important one. One which I’m here to share with you now. There is hope. You see, we’re in a unique position: we have a fully fleshed out and planned storyline, a Goliath of a production team behind us, incredible reception from critics and reviewers alike, and most crucially, a community base that is so strong internationally, it can not be ignored. The reason the cancellation hasn’t been announced, and that’s because there’s still a chance the story can continue, and be finished at a new home. This is where you all come in.”

The “Raised by Wolves” star went on to request fans be as vocal as possible about their hopes for a third season, in an attempt to help Scott Free shop the show to another platform for a potential third season.

I don’t usually like non-action-packed scifi but this show is spectacular. Well written and finely acted. Fingers crossed for another season.

augusts1 1 points 3 years ago.

Hooray, the 2nd season coming this February!

Bloody El 1 points 3 years ago.

Yee Haw! Good Sci Fi is back. No Droning on Apple Tv or after school special Paramount+. Just good wholesome Sci Fi. Love this show.

Harthal 1 points 4 months ago. 5/5 stars.

really miss this crazy-ass show

Cannabliss 1 points 2 years ago. 5/5 stars.

Patiently awaiting for a comeback. I stg I can’t help but think about this show often. The story feels so unresolved and it drives me nuts. This is prob one of my fav sci-fi shows OAT, so I will be very sad if no one picks it back up..

expresso 1 points 3 years ago. 5/5 stars.

I can’t believe this show only has 4 stars

AlphaD 1 points 3 years ago.

The only question that pegs my mind - Who & What is Sol?!?!

sobitthen 1 points 3 years ago.

Probably an opposing AI.

AlphaD 3 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Interesting but how is it managing to communicate telepathically, isn’t this a supernatural cognitive function? How did it manage to impregnate a necromancer? Too many “how’s” if it’s a Singularity.

I know everyone seems to be giving this some love. But to me, this is boring. Very hard to stay awake. Another show where I find myself waiting for something to happen. Very slow.

Truthsayer -6 points 4 years ago.

Just watched the 1st season of Raised by Wolves. As usual for Hollywood, it was a great idea with awful execution. The first half is quite interesting, but the last half is completely absurd. The part about androids is absurd since the beginning. And there are many logic fallacies in the writing trough all the season, concerning the plot and behavior of characters. This is not real sci-fi, it’s fantasy in space. The kind of fantasy that is not based on science nor logic. In every episode the rules change in order to fit the plot. The whole season seems like written by people on heavy drugs who never studied writing. It is said this series is made by Ridley Scott. It is on the same level of nonsense as his two last Alien movies. Looks like we have lost Ridley Scott forever. He is unable to identify bullshit before filming it.
