Set on a future Earth, Defiance introduces players and viewers to a world where humans and aliens live together on a planet ravaged by decades of war and transformed by alien terra-forming machines. It centers on Jeb Nolan, the law-keeper in a bustling frontier boomtown that is one of the new world's few oasis of civility and inclusion. Nolan is a former Marine who fought in the alien conflict and suffered the loss of his wife and child in the war. The trauma transformed him into a lone wanderer in the wilds of this new and dangerous world.

This was a good series while it lasted.

JDT2 5 points 3 years ago.

Agreed. The SyFy Channel has a known bad habit of cancelling good shows at the end of the 3rd season. They are famous for it.

BrotherKnumpcy 0 points 1 month ago.

SyFy cancelled two top shows to air this garbage and WWE Wrestling removing Eureka and Warehouse 13. Just like HBO ended Carnival after 2 seasons and should have been 6 and ended on a horrible cliffhanger never to be reprized again.

bigguy01 5 points 28 days ago.

hbo cancelled carnivale due to increasing cost of production. there was another 3 seasons of story to be told. defiance was cancelled due to cost and it ended seemed like there was another season left to finish the story.

The game this show was tied in to also horribly flopped, which probably didn’t help

Xsile 4 points 27 days ago.

The game flopped because trionworlds is a terrible dev that has never listened to its playerbase. They released Defiance initially raw then reworked it and released it again half baked. Then proceeded to micro transaction the living crap out of it. They did the exact same thing with Rift and pretty much took a top contending game and flushed it down the toilet in a matter of months.

syfy 2009-2019 with the help from space and showcase produce some really cool shows like haven, alphas, lost girl, continuum, bitten, 12 monkeys, dark matter, killjoys, the magicians, van helsing, wynonna earp, krypton, the expanse (season 1 to 3), happy, channel zero. the only good thing about the game was it was free to play but once you completed it there is no fun in 2nd or 3rd run through also did not add anything to the series or the story. didnt allow the players to play as the two main characters also no interactions with characters from the series

Xsile 3 points 27 days ago*.

You must have played the initial release then. Because the revamp had you meeting up with several of the main characters from the series. Also they added several things to do in the open world. Like racing, Time trials, boss fights, scheduled events etc.. But that said the game left a lot to be desired.

Twixtid 3 points 27 days ago*.

To be fair though, playerbase’ are really hard to please. Not within a week of Path of Exile 2s early access release players were screaming out about bad programming, steep difficulty curves, mob modifiers, and the list goes on. Shortly after many hotfixes and patches meeting player requests, GGG released a live statement saying they were gonna pull extra resources from the PoE 1 team to help out with PoE 2. We are 3 months into EA and players are still completely unsatisfied with just about every aspect of the game, and in most cases, unjustifiably so. Now having said that, you aren’t wrong about what happened with Defiance lol, but just saying, not listening to your player base, isn’t really any reason a game goes under these days cause, we gamers are quite literally impossible to please. I’m an avid gamer, so I get being salty at times, but seeing the general mindset of people over the course of PoE2’s early access, has shown me that even when you DO listen to your player base, they still aren’t happy, no matter what.

lasted 5 episodes into this garbage(replaced Eureka and Warehouse 13) and turned off syfy because of it.

burgermeister 3 points 28 days ago.

How did this manage to make it through 3 seasons when Firefly only got one!?

Dethkids 2 points 27 days ago.

Oooooo! Preach! Preach!

I absolutely loved this show. Even though I seriously hated a number of the characters- especially the female leads. I found a good number of them weak and annoying, and don’t even get me started on Nolan. That got us a straight up ass. Any guy who comes in to town calling the first woman he sleeps with “sweetheart”, then the next one “Barbie doll” just has zero redeeming qualities for me- but he just gets worse from there. His character has absolutely no growth as compared to other characters. He has like all of two lines and he repeats them repeatedly “I’m not gonna let you down again, not this time”, or “we live together, we die together”. Ugh.
So, why did I absolutely “love” this show then?? Because it seriously had some freaking all star cast and crew and there are a number of awesome episodes, plus, the series doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. Some of the cast (like Alan Kroeker) directed some of the absolute BEST episodes of DS9, it’s how I know that I’ve hit my favorite episodes of this show. Bear McReary has also done music work on a number of things. The Castithan family basically makes the entire movie, but especially the mom of that family. She makes a fantastic villain. She’s also in warehouse 13. It begins to fall apart around season 3, and I wish they could have developed the story further, but it is the syfy network- they notoriously cancel shows after season 3 in order to cut costs, so I’m not super surprised to see this one go. I’m just happy to find it here. Thanks uploaded on this one!

I vaguely remember this show, so I must have liked it, not loved it. Back then, I was watching shows on a Chinese website on a 1.3Mb modem, with a lot of buffering and shitty video quality. We were in the wild west of free video back then. Maybe I’ll skim a couple of episodes to see if it’s worth watching again.

gldmediatv 1 points 26 days ago.

Always worth a watch pal… The end of episode music track in most episodes usually sums it up… Enjoy :)

JoeAgora -4 points 3 years ago*.

I tried to watch it and I made it about 15 minutes thru the pilot. It looked and sounded like a ‘Made in Canada’ production. There’s a quality of the average Canadian production that is hard to define but it permeates most tv and movies made here like cheap, knockoff, cologne. If you like it…I’m happy for you, but totally not my cup of tea. I was looking for The Expanse but had to settle for Kim’s Convenience.

Twixtid 5 points 1 month ago*.

If you had made it to the end of the episode you may not of made this comment(I emphasize the word may lol), the final 30minutes of the pilot episode(in my opinion) was absolute fire, I am twisting in my seat to see what they bring with an introduction to an antagonist like that. This coming from someone who is currently on a 3month space opera binge and still going.

I found it to be an interesting show with a lot of thought put into the alien cultures. I saw the first half of the series when it originally aired & went back to watch the whole thing last year.

Twixtid 6 points 1 month ago.

I truly felt like the first episode was a promise of things to come, looking forward to finishing this up.

Lily23 3 points 1 month ago. 5/5 stars.

I liked Firefly & Farscape better but I enjoyed this show for what it was. Give the characters time to grow & change. You may hate someone now but shrug things change. Not sure all the links are viable. I had to get this from my library to watch it all but that was a year ago so maybe new links are available. Enjoy :)

Twixtid 3 points 1 month ago.

Absolutely agree with you 100%, Ive already finished Farscape and Firefly, and my ONLY beef with Firefly was that it was too damn good to be so damn short.

Lily23 2 points 1 month ago. 5/5 stars.

Preach! You made sure to watch the movie too, yes? Serenity

Twixtid 2 points 1 month ago.

Of course. :)

greyfur 1 points 28 days ago.

Serenity several times…
