Yes, this is truly great show that many peopled missed. It’s proof you don’t need a big budget to create great characters, dialogue and storylines. Inventive sci-fi material with lots of humor, as well. I’m still pissed the last season was cut, but the two-episode movie-finale they did instead (at the insistence of an outraged fan write-in campaign) was very well done, despite being a bit crammed with plot.
Not a big budget?!? The whole thing was done with Jim Hensons workshop! An episode was between 1 to 2 million so I have no idea what you’re talking about and the production value shows that. Doesn’t need a big budget…. pfffft.
if you have seen the show, you’ll know ( its plain to see) that the first season was really cheaply done….- then they got a bigger budget for the following seasons, but holden caulfield is right - the core of this show: the characters, dialogue and storylines was originally done on a low budget..
Budgets were less than the star trek, stargate shows, firefly, lost, terra nova but they got a lot more out of it. I guess they still qualify as relatively big budget compared to all shows. I wasn’t implying there was a cheap look to it. The animatronics were the cool part of the show … that’s where the money went instead of CGI affects and sets like most shows.
one of the top sci-fi series ever..original,well acted, quirky, funny and deep..plus how can i resist a young claudia black in skin tight leather…:P
Just started this series after years of hearing about it. On episode 4 of the first season and I can’t tell if I like it or not yet. I heard it gets way better though.
at least the first half of s1 maybe more is very case-of-the-week, once the arcs start developing is when everything gets super engaging
I was the same way when I first started watching this, but stick with it, it really does get better as you go, and next thing you know, you wind up pretty invested in it.
From the conversation thats going on here i might just start watching it too… Seems like it might be a good show
It was. Not really sure if it ever reached the status of what some might call ‘cult classic’ like shows like Firefly did, and that’s another really great show that never should have ended the way it did, but it’s really well worth watching if you like Science Fiction.
I wound up catching a lot of these randomly at first, before I knew about sites like this, and then when I started to use laptops and found a few, I started to binge the heck out of a few shows. This was one of them. I was a late bloomer to a lot of technology.
I watched the entire series years ago at the time I was watching all the Stargate series. It seemed a natural path to take since Ben Browder was in both. Of course, he did Farscape first.
and also claudia black, funny how they both gravitated to stargate from farscape
Yes! I deserve an ass-whoopin’ for forgetting Claudia. She definitely provided some comedy relief at SG-1. She was awesome. Thanks, rider.
Yup! Think that’s what really kick started his acting career. Then he got the gig in the ‘gate, and did really well in that. Looked him up just now, and he did some guest roles in one of the Doctor Who series as a bad guy, as well as some episodes of Arrow as a bad guy, then was in two movies, Dead Still and Robo Rex, and was in another movie called Outlaws and Angels, which was a western. Was born in ‘62, same age as me…
I was born in the more indispensable year: “63
I got hit with the Cuban missile crisis. Same month as well, go figure…
🤣
Whenever a wormhole comes up in any show I think of this
Am I the only one that gets (however small) Jim Hensen vibes? (Dark Crystal, The Labyrinth). This looks llike it’s gonna need a big ole bag of chips and my b0ng, just has the kinda feel to it, really looking forward to this after one episode.
Check the credits.

Oh wow!!! I knew it!
