When an international flight lands at Boston's Logan Airport and the passengers and crew have all died grisly deaths, FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham is called in to investigate. After her partner is nearly killed during the investigation, a desperate Olivia searches frantically for someone to help, leading her to Dr. Walter Bishop, our generation's Einstein. There's only one catch: he's been institutionalized for the last twenty years, and the only way to question him requires pulling his estranged son Peter in to help. When Olivia's investigation leads her to a manipulative corporate executive, she and her team will discover that what happened on Flight 627 is only a small piece of a larger, more shocking truth and will explore the blurring line between the possible and the impossible. |

What a thoroughly enjoyable watch. You are reeled in from the first episode and after a few initial character developing episodes the story takes off and soars such that each week outdoes the previous. The cast is exceptional and the writing flawless. This series is not only binge worthy it is high on the re-watch scale. Overall it is an exceptional production and I highly recommend it for anyone.
It’s everything you said and more. I’ve rewatched it every year since it ended. It never gets old for me.
Fox originally planned to make 10seasons of it but back then not many viewers watched Fringe directly from Fox. They used third party sites to download the episodes, others binge watched the entire seasons by downloading them from Torrentz sites. So when the viewership numbers dropped, Fox decided to pull the plug after season 3. But they also cared about the show and they couldn’t just let the story hang after season 3 so they sanctioned another 1 and a half season to wrap it up. This is why the 4th season seemed crunched and the 5th seems disjointed. But all in all we were grateful they gave us some sort of closure and they didn’t just cancel the show like they did many others back then. Someone from Netflix even said they would have revived the show had Fox cancelled it after season 3.
Anyway, here we are today 😂😂😂
Enough with all the reality shows already. Going back to my past favorites, and Fringe is a great series. Ten years later, its like watching a totally new show. X-Files probably next.
I’ve been doing the same. Finished this last week and I’m working on Lost now. X-Files sounds good to start on after that.
John noble is one of the most underated actors out there. (Or was, he’s a bit old now) he should have won all kinds of awards for this show. Great actor. And he makes his own LSD. Hehehe
Ps another great show—Fortitude. it definitelyis out there, in a good way.
Thanks for the suggestion I will go check this out
Fringe was one of the best shows on tv . Def binge worthy
I started watching fortitude last night it’s a great suggestion .. thanks
I have come back to X-Files more than once because it’s just that good. Some other suggestions for you if you are interested, Grimm was fantastic, Supernatural if you don’t mind all the bro drama but can definitely keep you busy for a while and follows a similar “Monster of the week” that X-Files was famous for along with it’s story Arcs. I am currently watching Falling Skies I actually found it to be quite enjoyable even though the first couple of times I tried to watch I got side tracked by other series that seemed more worth my while, which I am starting to run out of lol. I got my eye on a series right now called Sanctuary but it doesn’t look like it will keep my interest, seems far too light hearted.
If you like sci-fi mystery drama thriller anything AT ALL, watch it!! I am confident you will find yourself happily binge watching all 100 episodes! And be sad when you’re done! Now GO!
I was a huge fan of this back when it was airing and watched it a couple times more all the way through, so heres a tidbit for both sides.
FRINGE was an awesome show but not enough people were watching or thats what FOX thought. It was a huge shame back then but the big reveal was that tons people were watching it online through 3rd party sources like these.. (Fringe died bc of the dawn of the streaming age) BUT FOX loved them so much and enough fans made their presence known that they found out before season 3 ended, that they would only get 2 seasons to wrap up the story and NOT 5 more (I think it was.)
So this particular part is where my memory fails me but they planned to get close to 10 seasons (idr) like X-files but only got around half that, so while I agree the last 2 seasons were crazier and more out there (and not in the best of ways) I also understand why and it helped me to stick with it and enjoy its last days. Still if I remember, it was mostly satisfying, and not to set the bar low but at least they got to finish in some way and not just as dead end cancellation.
That being said I have similar ideas about the show The Magicians (huge reccommend) and that it should have ended with Season 4 if they aren’t going to get way more bc Season 5 seemed more of like a setup to more seasons rather than pushing anything forward, so if you give that a try, trust me and stop at S4 until we get confirmation on S6 :P
It’s becoming my big fav of all time, just browsed a few days ago tv shows like X-files, what a discovery !!!
The first half of the pilot was hard but then it’s only a pure enjoyable ride, the 3 first episodes brought me on the edge of my sofa.
Really nicely made as well as a great cast, I need more of it right now!!!
Edit after 4 seasons in, it was normally supposed to be done on 3 seasons, the 4th was ok, but the 5th reduced to 13 episodes sounded odd, and after a few episodes in, I was out.
If you want a proper memory of this 3.5 season masterpiece, stop at season 4 episode 15 or end of season 4, it all goes down the drain after that…
But of course we all have our bad tastes sometimes.
It is one of the greatest series ever made. I wish i was finding it for the first time.
me too. watched it when it was Airing. good times. it was one of a kind.
Worth the watch and the re-watch and the re-watch…
This show has an actual good ending and didn’t get cancelled on a cliffhanger
one of my big favorite tv-shows all time !
The scenario is amazing and has a really well made “ending” which is rare nowdays.
The actors are good. Gotta get use to Olivia tho, she’s kinda tense :p but Walter is really great and funny!
Been watching this tv-show since the year it got out… at least 2 or 3 times a year I just come back to it and enjoy it like one would enjoy going to the amusement park.
Even the 5th season ?
The fifth season is good. It has some great story ideas. Especially peter and his Observer journey.
These are my thoughts exactly. When talking about or recommending this wonderful show I make sure to mention that season 5 dosn’t actually exist.

With all the recents posts comparing DEBRIS with FRINGE i decided to go back and watch the pilot of FRINGE again, just to re-remind myself. I watched the show when it originally aired, week-by-painful-week, filled with anticipation as we all were, waiting to see what would happen next. It was exciting TV at the time.
For me the essential story was the first 3 series, they could’ve just ended it there with simply an extra 5 minutes to tie it all up. After that it seemed unnecessary to continue and i lost interest during S4, not sure if i ever saw the conclusion. Since then i re-watched those 3 series once a few years ago. I just started with the pilot again 2 weeks ago, then watched all of S1 in a weekend, all 20 eps! What i’m finding is that Series 1 was amazing, DEBRIS isn’t a patch on FRINGE for story. Just in the pilot of FRINGE alone we’re introduced to 4 strong central characters and several strong secondary recurring characters.. that’s just in ep1. In DEBRIS after 3 eps there’s still only the 2 main characters and maybe some others, but i can’t remember the names even of the main ones.. there’s no-one like Walter Bishop to move things along with a smile!
Series 1 is the best really, i’m over halfway through S2 at this time and have noticed several ‘filler’ eps in it, that are just weird stuff but not even connected to ‘the pattern’, a lot of S2 lacks that focus after the definite baddie, Mr Jones, in S1. The whole thing reminds me a lot in retrospect of ‘THE X FILES’ which you’d have to say is it’s direct genetic forebear. Personally i hated XF and both Agents Scully and Muldaur, one smug one annoying.. gad how i hated that prog! Still FRINGE has a lot of similarities, weird happenings etc. It really is the characters of Walter and Peter, Olivia and Astrid the lab assistant, it’s their HUMANITY which i find sets this prog apart from others like it. You can’t help but like these people and want to cheer them on! DEBRIS by comparison, into ep 4 and i don’t even care anymore.. that’s the big difference!
Anyway, i’m still ploughing my way through S2, still in LOCKDOWN so i might as well and if you haven’t watched FRINGE yet yerself, give it a go, it’s a lot better than most of what’s being made now imho.
Sorry to go on,,THANKS :))x
Not so much about creatures that go bump in the night but an amazing new age X-Files type show about the impossible being possible. The cast is expertly casted and this show is so far out there and each episode for the most part isolated unto itself (there is a story arc but this is more or less about the mystery of the week) that plot holes aren’t really a thing here. Definitely check this out if you need something to binge on.
