Season 1 was an amazing, creative sci-fi and very well-executed. I was hooked from start to finish, and its season finiale really did leave me wondering “Where are they going to go from here?!”.
Season 2 gave the answer; absolutely nowhere. Replaced actors, predictable plots and tedious, tired tropes kill any interest that might have carried over from season 1. A real shame.

I can see that cancellation coming from a mile away! Personally, I didn’t like the change in character. IMO, Mackie just wasn’t up to it. I understand the plot premise but I’m way too much a Joel Kinnaman fan to be content with just one season of him in this role!
No definitely canceled. Netflix announced on August 26th last year that they were cancelling the show. I’ve not seen nor can I find anything related to a season 3. There’s no good reason for them to do it. The viewer figures for season 1 were ok but season 2 suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked and the figures dropped a lot. With a downward trajectory and high production costs it doesnt make any financial sense to continue to make it.

I haven’t even watched half of the series yet….. but wow!!!!
Yes, it can get a quite a bit dark, violent, sex scenes, lol… but with a hint of scifi off and on, more as you go along.
In a few places it seemed to lag, or truly just get a bit too dark for me. And yet!!!!! “Ah ah ah!!!” Shakes finger like the screen saver in the original jurassic park. It just keeps getting better. Hang in there but wow WOW wow! Interesting, thought provoking, action, schifi, drama, lots of great actors with good lines…. so far 4.5 stars out of 5!!
It’s really annoying when there are whole scenes in a foreign language (here it’s Spanish) without any subs. It’s something i’ve noticed in other NF series.. you’d think with all their resources they might provide translation so you could actually follow the story! :((x

Actor Joel Kinnaman will not rejoin the cast for Season 2. He was very supportive of his recasting. “That was always the intention of the show, and I thought that that was a very cool concept, that the character would continue, but a new actor would play him for each season.” The first season ends with Kovacs giving back the Joel Kinnaman-looking ‘sleeve’ and going off to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer.
