Swamp Thing centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp's mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

the show is really good but to bad that they’ve already cancelled the show, heard it was due to 2 reasons, guess the people at dc didn’t like the direction of the show and was doomed b4 it even aired.

and the 2nd reason was due to taxes in north carolina where the show is shot, it cost 80 mill to make and they was suppose to get a tax rebate of 40 mill which was half the cost to shoot, but instead someone messed up and they only got a 14 mill rebate.and just to costly to shoot.

Got cancelled.

Thought this was supposed to be about ‘The Swamp Thing’, ends up being about some plastic lipped imbecile’s wet dream about saving another fake haired imbecile from their own stupidity. What happened to Alec’s wife and ‘the revenge for killing my love arc’? Where are the ‘UnMen’? Why does the ‘Blue Devil’ side character have a better and more developed backstory(they didn’t even share a comic)? FFS DC live action is so crap without TV cartoons for the backstory.

I am not really surprised it has been cancelled, there was so much potential but 5 episodes in and pretty much nothing has happened besides beauty and the beast, the once upon a time writers, as they would seem to be, got the genre wrong.

I see where your coming from but I think they were going for a slow burn type of atmosphere. Six episodes in and the most interesting characters are given the least amount of screen time. I read an article yesterday from the writer or show runner and he was saying he had planned to dig into some of the mythos contained in the comic book runs. I never read them but Swamp Thing seems to be really deep not just about horror and monsters, more like a thinking mans comic. It would be great if one day the storyboards for the final three episodes of this season were to get leaked so we could see where they planned to take this.

There may not be much hope that someone else may pick it up but there is still hope for the character, John Constantine did mention Swamp Thing in an episode of legends of tomorrow so with any luck he might show up there, after all Constantine was cancelled and then he ended up on legends.

YgraineDance 3 points 5 years ago.

That’s true. It could happen. Swamp Thing had so many plot threads, all of them deserving of time and development, but time just ran out. There was no way to do this justice in one short season. It would be great to see more of the story, particularly in light of that ep. 10 finale jaw-dropper.

It is obvious what went wrong with this show, this is supposed to be justice league dark, but even with some of the darker stuff they show, it is still to weak.Don’t get me wrong, I love a good story but this is no where what it should be for the content they are working with.Shit should have hit the fan a long time ago.And episode 7 just re enforces my beauty and the beast, once upon a time bullshit writers outlook.I liked once upon a time, but this is no place for it.They don’t call it justice league dark for nothing. The relationship between them is very necessary, but the fishing with nothing ever really happening and them expecting you to like it doesn’t work. After watching the boys, this is a shame on the writers, the acting and everything else about it is really good.Turning justice league dark into a dark hallmark fairy tale, epic fail!

Since they decided to jip everyone out of any hope for more seasons, they should have went ahead and posted all 10 episodes at once. What the hell’s the point of rolling them out slowly now if there isn’t going to be anymore?? Does’t really make much sense to me, but whatever. Not much Hollywood does anymore really does.

P1 1 points 3 years ago.

Rolling them out slowly, what you mean weekly, like an normal tv show :p

HA HA HA HA!!! The acclaimed writer of Swamp Thing is Brit Alan Moore. LoLZZZZ! You’re an inept uniformed maladroit!

Krl246 0 points 5 years ago.

Hate to break it to you, especially after working yourself into such a lather; but, The Swamp Thing was created by Wein and Wrightson, two Americans. Alan Moore was just a writer for Vol 2; “The Saga of the Swamp Thing”.

Atomik 0 points 5 years ago. 5/5 stars.

Hate to break it to you but even though Wein and Bernie did HOS #92 (Which I own) and the subsequent Swamp Thing title their run was still nowhere near as lauded as Moore’s. He redefined the character from a Swamp creature to an Earth Elemental.

Krl246 1 points 5 years ago.

I know who did what, you do understand that I just said that to you in the last comment. That’s your opinion. “The Saga of the Swamp Thing” had that one good first issue(the Vol 2 Issue 1 cover was amazing), and, the rest was cluncky to read through and had entire sections of half-@$$ artwork. The story was cool and different, I did like how he was just a twisted lump of plant material. To use that as a reason to make someone feel small is BS, Swampie deserves better. Also, inept uniformed maladroit is redundant in that those words mean the same things in a sense. Wein and Wrightman’s first ten issues are still the best. Up there with Frank miller’s “Ronin”, and the six issue “Green Lantern:Emerald Dawn”.
