The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022) S2 E7
Euringer 4 points 1 month ago.

Once again, it’s viewership is still as good as even the best Amazon Prime shows. “Very few people are actually watching it” is a weird way of saying “It’s one of their most successful shows”. It’ll be five seasons like they planned, but after the fifth season I’m sure people will lie and claim it was cancelled.

hellsingfan01 1 points 1 month ago.

This season of the show has been watched by fifty million people that’s down by over one hundred million sorry to be the one to break that to you.

I’m not going to bother with this one for several reasons. First, I honestly didn’t care for the first movie, second, I see that it’s a musical, and now that I have been warned, I don’t much care for those, so that a bit of a turn off for me to start with, and three, I can see from the ‘star rating’ that the people that have watched this already didn’t seem to care that much for it either.

Others might like this, and more power to them, but thinking this is just something that I’ll have to pass on.

I enjoyed the movie. The musical made perfect sense so don’t let that genre turn you off from watching it. Now I won’t say it was as good as the first. It didn’t even come close in my opinion. The ending for me was a let down, however I’m sure there is going to be a part 3. I’m not familiar with the Harley Quinn character so I can’t compare Gaga’s acting to anyone else as I have nothing to reference it from. As an actress in this movie she did a great job. So did J.P. I think it fell short in Character development and the directors department. It was a good one time watch. ⭐⭐⭐out of 5

Interesting. From Ryan Murphy, coming Sept 25th 2024. I hope it’s an improvement on the last few seasons of the AHS franchise.

I never said that there not right now just at some point Amazon is going to have to think about if it’s worth paying for a show that very people actually like and more importantly very people are actually still watching.

Blood and Cheese are characters from Fire and Blood, and part of GRRM’s issue with it - I know the name of the book ‘cause I read it. The series is slated for 5 seasons and still doing better than stuff like Invincible. They’re not canceling it.

After watching an exposé on the extensive lies and manipulation that goes into these shows I felel that they should be listed under make-believe. I was/am pretty disgusted at the behind the scenes I watched, and what these producers do to create false drama and fabricated lives. It affects people that watch it and that’s just not right. My apologies to anyone who enjoys this show. My issue is with the creators and producers and the extent of the lies and manipulation. All the best to everyone.

Gotta disagree with a few of the other posts. This was/still kinda is one of my top shows. But the last few seasons have been terrible, the writing has lacked and is just way to far out threre. now this season, to end things off they just seem like they’re jumping the gun to flip every character to the opposite of what they were at the start. Its not working in my opinion, but Gotta finish it.

They renewed it before the season began. Like I said, there was no chance they weren’t renewing it for multiple seasons - the point I was making was that announcing the renewal publically between seasons unlike RoP makes sense if they knew GRRM had such a big problem with them changing Blood and Cheese, etc.

Great show, really enjoyed watching all 13 episodes.
All episodes available on youtube as it got cancelled mid season and the network provided the episodes on youtube.
Easy to see why it got cancelled, it needs your attention all the time or you miss stuff, it isn’t a show you can join at any episode, it benefits from binge watching because there’s so much going on.

It seems like the writers learned a lesson from last season. People don’t want to see a perfect do no wrong badass woman who is better than everyone at everything. Instead they have faults and weaknesses so they have room to grow so you can root for them. This season was so much better than the last.i really enjoyed this and I’m looking forward to next season.

Production on season 3 is already underway. Each season the showrunners are internally reviewed for renewel, but it’d be weird to publically issue statements like “We’re still doing what we already committed to doing” imo about a show that does admittedly have a decline in viewership. It makes sense for HotD because there was such a huge public backlash to this season including from George R R Martin himself, who quit consulting on it after they lied to him.

The Rings Of Power has the fact that it’s based off of the more well known The Lord Of The Rings franchise with HOTD already having been picked up for a third and possibly even fourth final season where as with this show the only thing they said about more seasons was when Amazon first bought the rights when they said that they were commiting to making five seasons of the show but have said nothing about if they were going to actually make or not.

Seriously not understanding this. I remember trying to watch season one, sucked so bad I only made it a couple episodes in, then had to stop. Others made it a bit further, but the common conses was this was so horrible that there was no way there would ever in God’s green would there ever be a season 2…

Now, here there is a season 2. Well, O.K., stranger things have happened. Power Rangers took off, so there’s that. Now it seems that everybody is loving this. Never watched an episode of the second season, so please explain to me how the first season could make so make so many people want to suck start a pistol, but the second season seems to want to make people want to go out and start a collection?

Happy to be proven wrong, but afaik they are sentient AND sapient. In the Silmarillion they’re Elves corrupted by Morgoth, though in private letters that would be published and analyzed by Christopher Tolkien they’re all sorts of things from Elves to men even to Maia. Either way, in the published text they simply choose to be bad and side with Morgoth because they just straight up hate Elves and to a lesser degree humans - later Sauron’s corrupting effect is much, much stronger on Orcs and Goblins though so you’d probably be unlikely to come across a chill Orc in LOTR times.

dampyiel2200 2 points 1 month ago.

I should of used the word sapient. I actually didn’t realize the huge difference between the two until I looked it up. And thanks for the explanation.

Rings of Power lost a lot more viewers than HOTD, but context is important imo. GoT is the most watched thing ever on HBO with both linear tv and digital, though HOTD is the most watched digitally. Rings of Power season 1 was just straight up the most watched thing for Amazon, ahead of stuff I’d say is better like; Fallout, The Last of Us and Invincible (though it did fall off a cliff after the first few episodes). Critically HOTD actually took a hit this season, especially the latter half with both critics and audience scores - Rings of Power improved marginally critically, but by over 50% with audience scores. Neither was ever going to end early though. RoP was ordered for 5 seasons from the start hence no need to re-negotiate and no need to announce a new order. I guess there’s a chance Fire and Blood 2 comes out and they don’t extend or do new seasons if HOTD continues to slowly lose viewers the next few seasons but I doubt it.

The orcs and goblins are sentient so why aren’t their any “good” ones? They all can’t just be evil can they? From my understanding just from the movies and this TV show. That they were made with dark magic or something. But they do think for themselves and make choices individually.

Simple by having the characters not act like themselves at the best of times and at the worst of times have them be just downright unlikable this is something that doesn’t work in the show as now we the audience have no characters to route for whereas even as back as The Hobbit book we had all of that.

This season is just messy lol. Even more so than normal. So many weird things happening with the challenges. But I have to give production the benefit of the doubt the horacio elimination really seemed like he was cheated out of a win. But production actually proved derrick won with behind the scenes footage showing the rules of the Challenge. So Tina’s nails were probably an interns mistake lol.
