A parasite is a parasite. It doesn’t matter how they meet their end. If the parasite kills himself - great. If someone else executes the parasite to silence him, or carry out a vendetta - great. The parasite is gone. Super. A network who reports the possibility of a different death & has enough material to publish this thesis is not protecting anyone. They’re publishing a thesis they believe to be viable.

Anyone who has a stake in just one singular narrative that they insist upon has revealed a false ideology they care more about forwarding rather than children. To this type of viewer, victimization of children is incidental in forwarding their agenda - and this makes them equally culpable in victimizing children, and there is no amount of discussion they could ever produce that will ever remove that stain they put upon themselves.

A parasite is dead. That’s cause to celebrate. Method of death makes no matter.

It’s like everyone just completely ignored all the docs, investigations, articles, books etc into the prison system that has highlighted that theyre just a money making machine managed by the wealthy. With a lack of staff let alone properly trained. Always poorly managed and poorly documented incidents for well decades upon decades. Also traffickers, pedos etc are notoriously known to hang themselves, and officers are known to let them do so. with that said he very well could of just been hung by another inmate cause he was a pedo, or hung by another inmate cause they got paid buy a outside source. none of these are crazy, and to go nuts thinking about it blows my mind. sure we all want to see the list, but be real a list of that magnitude would be destroyed by now.

grasshopper rex 2 points 2 hours ago.

I get annoyed by how much emphasis is put on the list in this case, and how much focus there is on knowing who the wealthy, celebrities, and well-known people are. Sex tourism is a huge industry. While sex trafficking of young children is pretty rare in the US and most 1st world countries, the same can’t be said for less economically developed nations. It’s hard to guess how many people, mostly men, travel to countries in Asia, Central and South America and others, just for the purpose of having sex with a minor. Most estimates from organizations that deal with those issues put it at a minimum of 250K a year, but it wouldn’t shock me if it went as high, or higher than, a million a year. Those high profile names that everyone is so obsessed with are but a small percentage of the problem, and it diverts attention away from how large the problem is.

Is it really such a stretch of the imagination that overworked jailers might just be bad at their jobs, or jail equipment might be old and faulty? I can speak from experience that both are very possible.

The funny thing about conspiracy theories is that their believers don’t need any proof. Their feelings about it allow them to ignore any evidence or explanations to the contrary. They only seek out “information” that supports what they already believe, while condemning anything and anyone that proposes any other scenario. You can see that here. “If you don’t see this as I see it, you suffer from cognitive dissonance and lack critical thinking skills.” Almost everyone approaches things with a bias that blinds them, to varying degrees, to anything that doesn’t conform to that bias.

I don’t like cops, the rich, or perverts, but it is really not that hard to believe that this is exactly what they say it is.

VICE News Presents: Epstein Didn't Kill Himself (2024)
grasshopper rex 2 points 9 hours ago.

How do we protect children? Younger children are the biggest problem here. Like I’ve said before, the vast majority of abuse is by people within the circle of family, friends of the family and neighbors. The 1st step there is just being aware of who is the biggest threat to your children and being mindful of their interactions with older kids and other adults in their life. You shouldn’t be overly paranoid about it, but also keep in mind that no one is really above suspicion.

The 2nd suggestion is unpalatable to most parents, but one I endorse strongly. Talk to your kids about it. No one wants to take their child’s innocence away from them, but the world is a nasty, brutal place and the sooner your child understands this, the safer they will be. The younger, the better. You don’t have to be explicit about the dangers, but you do have to make a strong enough impression on them that they understand the seriousness of it and heed your words. Obviously, they need to be old enough to understand the information you are imparting to them. What age? That depends upon the child and their cognitive abilities.

I saved the worst for last. How do we protect children from their own parents? Don’t kid yourself, this happens more often than most people would believe. Being aware of that is probably the most effective tool we can employ, but be smart about it. Don’t be so paranoid that you read something into healthy displays of affection or physical contact with a child that doesn’t warrant concern. You’ve probably heard the phrase “It takes a village to raise a child”. This also applies to protecting them. Be aware of what’s going on around you and watchful.

Lastly, what to do if you are reasonably certain something isn’t right. Report it to the proper authorities. That simple. Let them investigate. I would rather lose a friend, alienate a family member or piss off a neighbor because I was wrong than let a child be harmed through my inaction. Again though, and I can’t emphasize this enough, you need to be pretty damn sure that something isn’t right. You can ruin lives and families if you are wrong.

The only thing left to address is how to protect older kids. If they’ve been raised right, they know the dangers and what is acceptable or not acceptable. How to prevent kids from being victims of sex trafficking? That is tied to complicated social issues that I have no answers for. Keeping kids from being sexually abused when they are younger is a big step in the right direction. The other factors like drug abuse and unstable homes are unlikely to be ever solved. Again, just be aware of what’s going on around you. If you see a teen that looks like they need help, tell someone.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I don’t have a degree on any subject related to these topics. In truth, the last grade I graduated was 8th. What I do have is personal experience on every topic I’ve covered, but for being sexually abused by a parent. My early abuse was at the hands of a trusted adult in my life and the later abuse, in my teens, was by a stranger that led to me being trafficked. I’ve been in therapy, off and on, since I was 10. All of this trauma led me to an unquenchable thirst to understand what had happened to me. I am very well-read on various topics related to these issues. I’ve been involved in programs for adults that deal with childhood sexual abuse, as a patient and a mentor. Some completed college courses and CE counselor certifications, blah blah blah. I’m not an expert by any means, but I am fairly knowledgeable on this particular subject. I’m only exposing my personal suffering because I feel it is crucial that we learn how to talk about this openly. My shame is long gone, but picking at even healed wounds is painful. We can’t let these monsters live in the shadows anymore, so I speak up in the hope that it might save even just 1 child from going through any of what I’ve experienced.

Xanthippe 2 points 8 hours ago*.

Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us/me. I agree with everything you stated as this is what I have been reading as well. I do not have any first hand experience with childhood sexual abuse, but I had a unknown guy masturbating in front of me at the age of 14 and I got raped the first time when I was 16 by a person I knew beforehand.

I did meet victims of childhood sexual abuse though during therapy. The stories they told were extremely brutal and unimaginable, and the offenders were parents, relatives or close friends of the family in all cases. It is hard to write about this, as the pain and suffering these adults caused is overwhelming. But as much as we are disgusted by such offenders, we should not forget that most of them have experienced abuse themselfes that has never been dealt with. The result is that this becomes their normality and they behave in the way they were tought and what you get is generational trauma. It is very important for us to understand how important it is to break those cycles, understand the dynamics and take the steps you described.

On another note: I also have my share of trauma starting as an infant, so I very much appreciate you sharing your experiences so openly.

What are your thoughts about people that are considered ‘sex addicts’, in that - their compulsion is not solely specific (pedophilic). They have a sexual ‘appetite’ for everything and anything, which they pursue > even to the utter ruination of all family relationships, and to their own destruction?

You are so right, these deviants are sensationalized, almost idolized in some twisted way, akin to the whole’ true crime’ mania with serial killers, et cetera. I admit my own fascination with a particular type of predator, because of my own life experience. I’ve wanted to understand why, which seems a sad cliché… It might surprise (some) people of how prevalent and historical these destructive human behaviours, are. As unsavoury and awful as it might be, children need to KNOW that ‘NO ONE’ has the right to touch them, without their okay. EVEN family members. That their bodies belong to them only, and that they too, have human rights. They are not the ‘property’ of anyone > even mum & dad…What school of learning would teach > or is teaching that, to kids anywhere - anytime?

I can’t disagree with that, but it is Star Wars. I doubt they’ve ever won a major award for screenwriting. I can’t recall them ever even being nominated. They have won a couple of Saturn Awards in that category, but that doesn’t really count. Star Wars excels at 2 things, special effects and musical scores. Let’s face it, it isn’t even good science fiction writing. To the best of my knowledge, none of the books have ever won any awards. It’s filler material for a mass market.

VICE News Presents: Epstein Didn't Kill Himself (2024)

It angers me how little discussion there is about the victims in cases like this. Vice touches on it a bit in this, but in general the focus is almost always on the offenders. You can see the lack of public education on it in how most people think of sex trafficking and who the majority seem to think the victims of such are. It’s demonstrated perfectly when people call the offenders in this case pedophiles, and that plays into many misconceptions about child sexual abuse. I’m not going on a lengthy attempt to try to educate people here, but if you are interested, there is an excellent article on the subject in the Scientific American. Google Pedophiles, Hebephiles and Ephebophiles, Oh My: Erotic Age Orientation.

Most child sexual abuse is committed by hebephiles, those sexually attracted to children between the ages of 11-14, and ephebophiles, those sexually attracted to children between the ages of 15-19. Ephebophilia is the largest driver of child sex trafficking. If I had to speculate as to why we don’t talk about it is that the attraction is far more common than anyone wants to admit.

These misconceptions about child sex trafficking are what angers and frustrates me the most. The public conversation is almost exclusively focused on the rarest form of child sexual abuse, true pedophilia, and more important conversations are ignored. While there isn’t a lot of data out there about how post-pubescent, underage children become involved in sex trafficking, what there is suggests that most of them are troubled kids from unstable homes. Many were sexually abused as children, and many are runaways. While some involved are raped and forced into trafficking, many are coerced and manipulated through drug addictions, a place to stay, and a need for money to survive.

When we don’t have these discussions about whom the victims are, how they came to be such, we also don’t talk about how we can prevent this from happening to other children. We are failing, as a society, when we allow ourselves to be misinformed and misled by the more sensationalized focus on conversations about child sex trafficking that involves true pedophilia, the least common form of sex trafficking.

And no, saying “If you don’t like prequels for fear of spoilers then don’t watch them” has nothing to do with the quality of the show at all. You’ve already given your opinion of the show here, many times now, can’t you let others have a differing opinion without contradicting them? You can’t bully people into sharing your opinion. I don´t think watching 2 episodes qualifies as binging!

So have I and it’s not that good of a show if you like it then great but by saying “If you don’t like prequels for fear of spoilers then don’t watch them” then all your doing is saying that you like stuff that is mediocre and you should just accept it and question why it’s so bad in the first place.

Why does it bother you so much that some people might like something you don’t ? Your opinion is not the only one that has value. I’m only saying something now because this is a pattern I’ve seen you do many times before. Dr Who, Star Trek properties, other Star Wars properties, to name a few.

Why would I trust you? Why would I worry if other people watch or not? Clearly other people agree it is a good show and have already watched the episodes already released?
