That was really well pulled off. Great flow and tension. Great casting that you can get lost in right away for the most part.
I was expecting very little but was very impressed.

Most definitely geared toward the boomers and early Gen X gemeration. If you weren’t at least 10 years old when this show was made then it probably won’t have the same effect as it did on me. I remember begging my parents to let me watch it. If I was as quiet as a church mouse and waited until they were on their second rye and water to ask them, they usually said yes.

Well, that was a lot of fun!

It’s at least done by Jason Reitman, Catherine Reitman’s brother. Their dad was Ivan Reitman, the guy that brought us Ghostbusters, Stripes, Meatballs, Animal House, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Cronenberg’s Shivers & other stuff. Jason worked with his dad on Ghostbusters & did some good stuff of his own like Thankyou For Smoking, Young Adult, Jennifer’s Body, etc.

He might be one of the few that can actually do it right since he grew up around it & that whole crew of people.

Along the lines of the vintage Ruby Keeler backstage comedies like 42nd Street or Footlight Parade, just not as spectacular. The vibe of that sort of thing is there though. Casting was mixed, where it was nailed in a few instances like with Lamorne Morris or Matt Wood, but not so much in others. Surprising to see Cindy Crawford’s kid Kaia Gerber as Chevy’s wayward gal. It’s a flick for hardcore fans of that era & it accomplished what it set out to do.

I miss nostalgia.

I liked it. Some of the cast members were spot on, resembling the original cast of SNL. Even the actor who plays Jim Henson was outstanding. A lotta great laughs. It was even better than I thought it would be. I’ll recommend it to my Dad. After all he watched the very first one and I’m sure remembers it well.

This is no longer called SNL 1975 it’s now just called Saturday Night and there is both a trailer and poster for the film available as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ9O_tl5Npk

About as bad as the real thing. Tries to show energetic vibe. Fails. And not one good laugh.
