Meh. Just a watch for nostalgia’s sake.
I did not even feel nostalgic by watching this musical shit show.
no geena davis for a start
I thought the acting was excellent.
BOB should win for Best Supporting Actor, he made Willem Defoe and Monica Bellucci look like amateurs.
I can’t believe they had the gall to use the exact same story line as the first one. I admit I had expectations to be let down as I went into this thinking it was another obligatory Hollywood franchise milk fest, but yea this wasn’t good at all.
This was a mess of a story. Acting was on par..humor was dry and dated. Many characters were unnecessary and it dragged… a lot.
It was alright. There was a little too much going on and the pacing was kinda weird. When it was over it felt like nothing actually happened. Zero stakes or investment. Another movie that I wouldn’t be surprised was written by AI. Keaton is great as Beetlejuice though and I loved Dafoe’s character. Monica Bellucci felt kinda thrown in and had very few lines. (apparently she’s Tim Burton’s partner, so makes sense why she was shoehorned in). Winona was… there. Jenna Ortega, can’t complain.
I’m guessing the audience is kids though so I’m sure they would enjoy it and not think too much about it.
I feel bad for the kids if this was what the movie was aimed that, this was…..bad for all the reasons you just listed.
Seems like the third act was rushed. A shame really. I was just getting into it when I saw the run time was low. I don’t think any of us will wait another 36 years for a follow up.
The Carrie music at the end was stellar. Who else caught that?
I don’t know I guess it was ok the effects looked very cheap. The story was just average 4/10
For the effects that’s on purpose. They wanted to keep the same style as the first.
Yeah this stunk. Keaton was great but the rest was a mismatch of about 4 stories. Like they couldn’t figure which to go with so they chose em all. And Jenna Ortega had the same story line with the boyfriend as she did in Wednesday. Ah well…
The original was much better. But that generally happens with movies. This one was meh at best. Didnt care for the music choices. Was not worth $25 seeing it in Theatres. Were there funny parts? Sure but mostly was boring . Wouldnt watch again.
Obligatory franchine-milking sequel. I’m just surprised they didn’t make it sooner.
What a mess… don’t waste your time on this.
Fun watch. Not as good as one.
Dancing, dated music and way too much singing.
Truly felt like a cheap TV Disney movie. They removed all of the ‘Burton’ elements, they also removed everything eerie and just focused once again on Jenna Ortega.
It did not feel like a Tim Burton movie.
Also heard Keaton is down for a 3rd film? Gosh this time I will pass. NO, I will still watch it as curiosity is stronger than everything.
Teenagers who barely know who Tim Burton is and never watched the original (that’s todays gen) must have enjoyed it…good for them!I did not
I just finished watching it. I started it the other day and then got distracted but I’m glad I remembered and watched it tonight. It was funny. I think the first one was better though.
Agreed.
I’m 28 minutes into it and the picture and sound is almost as good as dvd. So far so good enjoying it so very much. Thank you
I know I complain about remakes, sequels etc. I’m all for this one. It has Michael in it, C.O. W.R. Many of the originals. September is a long way off. I have something to look forward to now. Woo Hoo
If the remakes didn’t always remove/change the things that made the originals great and shoehorn in unnecessary virtue signalling that bear no relevance to the story, then they wouldn’t be too bad.
Agree that this looks like it should be pretty awesome.
If nothing was ever removed or changed then they would just be the originals.
another sad remake/sequel, 25 minutes was all I could take
not much to type but this movie was just baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad! I had my expectations low but wow this was bad. it seriously didn’t need to be made, like Trainspotting Two, they should’ve just left this alone. and its not the actors fault who all did great, just a terrible script. Clevergems typed all that needed to be typed about this film. avoid it all costs if you can.
This installation is a day late and a dollar short, so to speak. I am completely disappointed at this second stage. Sometimes it’s best to enhance the original with commentary and deleted scenes rather than a meandering and obsolete part two. What a disappointment.
This movie was amazing, and crazy and just all over the place. In a good way. It was all about Beetlejuice this time around. Had kind of 3 stories all going at once. The boy in the treehouse, the grieving family, and the corpse bride. I am so happy I went and seen this in the theater. I am still trying to process everything I seen. But man, if you were a fan of the original, you will be a fan of this one. Watch it, you will love it.
And the moral of the story, bad relationships come and go but family is everything. Heck I leaned that years ago, finally! Awesome movie I loved every minute of it. It will never top the first one but it was a great one time watch. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I wasn’t expecting it to be great. But I wasn’t expecting it to be that bad.
The B plot in the dead world was way more interesting.
Trying to capture lightning twice with this one and missed hard.
Thanks. I waited for the HD release. Glad I waited. I enjoyed it. Everything I expected it to be. Bob took it over the top. Thanks Bob! I’m sure some little glip glop sand worms will down-vote my comment but to me it felt like the prefect sequel to the original movie. What were the clowns hating on it even expecting? Star Trek? MacArthur Park forever.
the current links are better than youd think!
While not as good as the first, it wasn’t a bad movie. They at least explain the Maitlands disappearance by way of loophole.
Not bad per se and definitely not as good as the first one but it’s entretaining enough.
Could have been better and it could have been worse. All in all, I liked it and thought it was (just) ok for a sequel to a classic Tim Burton 80ies era gem.
I didn’t think it was bad, it was nice seeing most of the Beetlejuice crew back together, brought back good memories from back in the day!
Not near what the first one was. 3 stars tops.
Due out September 6th, waiting patiently lol
I can’t wait! :)
The new trailer is out now and the film looks so good.

I mean now that he has made a sequel using the main characters name twice it seems like scripture he will have to do a third trilogy to come full meta circle.
I worry it would have to come awfully soon or the next cast might be too different or worse whats his name will be too old to tackle it.
Or perhaps not since three summons or banishes. Perhaps thats the clever bit that was almost too clever for me.
Tim Burton doesn’t have another 36 years to live. But you never know!
I hope the movie helped take your mind away. I lost my mom when I was 18, sister at 21. Still have my dad and I am a total daddies girl. So I feel your pain, and am sorry for your loss.
Thank you. My Mom and I became close in the last 10 years. I am a daddy’s girl too. He is my hero. He’s rescued me and my son from a terrible marriage. The song Someone saved my life tonight is our montage in life for sure.
Don’t know if this is a hot take or not. But to me this would of been a lot better without all the legacy characters besides Beetlejuice of course. Too many things were going on. If jenna orgeta character was the main and only plot I think this would of been a lot better. More time for character development and an ending that didn’t feel rushed and pretty boring.
