Shyamalan continues his free fall into mediocrity with his latest opus “Trap”. I don’t know where to begin with this one : between that inane script that gives away the major plot twist way too soon, the various plot holes and half-assed attempts at creating suspense and Hartnett’s cringe overacting. What has happened to M. Night since The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs ?
Glass, Split,The Visit? Knock at The Cabin was incredible and I’m ready to watch this again. What twist was given away to soon? Knowing he’s the killer and watching him panic to escape was the fun of the whole movie. Why there are so many M.knight critics, is beyond me. I bet you and the rest of the clan don’t leave bad reviews on movies that are actually trash but the second M.Night does anything, you can’t wait to tear it apart.
I don’t get the hate for this movie. I really liked it and it’s a bit different to anything I’ve seen.

I enjoyed this, and the reason being I understand the overstated and hyper emotional tone M. Night is going for. There has really been only one MN film I didn’t like: The Happening. That stated, I also get why others expect something else, but that’s not his style. He use hyperbole and over dramatisation to accentuate a horrible and horrific point in all our lives. It’s not bad, it’s not great, but Josh Harnett is outstanding.
Enjoyed this movie more than I expected. I’ll admit during the music scenes I was wishing the daughter was a Slayer fan. besides that I enjoyed the rest of the movie and even the last song she sang in the house.

I thought this was a great movie! refreshingly original and good twists, if you haven’t seen any trailers- don’t! Just go into it with no expectations and enjoy. 4/5 from me.
FFS, this was so bad. He made the entire movie to promote his own daughter. She should stick to music and not try to act, because this was terrible.
That’s exactly what I thought after watching this pile of garbage, but I think she should go to trade school and not stick to singing. Shyamalans AND Josh Hartnett’s acting in this was atrocious, all imo of course. The one good thing I can say is that I’m glad it doesn’t cost me box office or streaming money to watch these bombs. He was fine in scenes with his wife etc, but yeah, overall pretty bad. I don’t mind her singing, she’s alright.
It started off well. Then I was realizing there were a few plot holes and much of the set up and how and why this trap was set made no sense. Then half way through the acting from J.H and M. Nights daughter just became very unconvincing. I don’t know if M. Night and his daughter began with an idea on making a movie that would help her music career and then made this movie around that idea but this is just a mess. Not happy with it at all
This one was good for M. Night Shyamalan. He has made some good movies, but sometimes they just stay there. This one was to me one of his best and the music was good! His daughter can act and she can sing. I give it a 4 out of 5 only because I figured out the plot when I saw all the cops at the concert venue but good movie!
I saw this in theater yesterday and the beginning is actually missing. Theres maybe like 15-20 min missing. Hope they fix this and add a better version.

Near perfection from M. knight as usual. I had anxiety throughout. If you don’t like his storytelling then just keep it moving. I love everything he’s touched. Josh Hartnet was super fun to watch in this role. I’m ready for a prequel and a Butcher origin story.

This movie was so funny and full of cliches, but I enjoyed the cliche parts. The music was good and what a twist. The ending was funny too.
I dont know whats happened to M Night but hes definitely fallen off in his past few films. There were just too many holes in this. It feels like it was written for a 1980s audience. Not in the style of the 80s but back then you’d overlook or forgive what would be an obvious hole in the story. Usually just due to the awesome cheesiness of 80s films. Worth a watch but Ive got a few issues with it.

That was one of the worst films I’ve seen for a while! I don’t understand what all the weird faces were about he might be set but that was not his best acting at all!
I saw a great YouTube comment for a better ending. Well in my eyes anyways. The twist could of been the entire family besides the husband were actually the killers and he was trying to protect them. But they were so crazy they framed him for it because he wasn’t helping them kill. Or something along those lines anyways can’t remember it exactly.
I thought when he went back to see his wife in the end, they were gonna reveal she was the alpha and he was just her assistant or groupie or something but there really wasn’t a big twist. Still wasn’t bad..
With this directer I just expected some sort of twist but it was straight forward. The only thing surprising was how dumb everyone was lol.

I actually thought that was going to be the twist when I watched this. Didn’t know Allison Pill was in it so when I first saw her I was like “Oh, she’s the murderer! That’s interesting!”
Yeah, the twist basically ended up being …. you expected a twist, because M. Night, but there was none. We saw from the jump, this guy is the killer.. and simply remained that throughout.
Considerably better than expected - granted, expectations low given what M Night has done in recent years, stil. Great little thriller.
All he had to do was walk out the door with his daughter and all would have been well they obviously didn’t know what he looked like he got psyched out.
They had DNA from his safe house where the ticket receipt was left.

Got about 25 minutes left. The singers acting is distractingly bad. Movie so far besides that is pretty good. Haven’t finished it yet.hopefully has a cool twist.
Don’t know what I was expecting but that ending was pretty silly. No police protection for the wife after the guy gets away from police. Then lets a serial killer mess with random shit in his yard hug his daughter then put him in the back of a police transport alone. Is the twist that everyone in this movie is dumb as shit?
Saleka is 1 of the most talented singers to this date. Don’t know what you were listening to unless you mean acting in general. But M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter is a very talented singer and 1 of the best parts of this film. But we all got our own opinions I guess. Not everyone likes everything lol

I found that FFing through the singing helped. A lot. But not enough.
Unfortunately it couldn’t help the horrible acting (wtf happened to Hartnett? He’s better than that), the awful script, or the numerous dumb things the characters did. I watched the whole thing hoping it would get better but, sadly, it did not.
