Gladiator II (2024)

I remember not seeing the movie ready player one well after it was common conversation especially among gamers wtih its gamer theme.
I remember a buddy challenging my silly strange reasoning or perhaps lack of sound reasoning as to why i didn’t want to see it or wasn’t excited about it.
He simply asked me how many bad steven spielburg movies have you seen? Some directors are simply so quality or established or rather have such strong records of above the average you really just have to give them a try purely on their overall success rate.
Good or not im sure there will be some worthwhile aspects.

I think sometimes when you have incredible names on a thing until they age out where they are purely rubber stamped in for fake recognition you gotta have a little faith and just leap when masters of cinema come calling.
Frankly ive watced far too much of this period and general theme lately so i hope its a nice long wait for the actual HD release cause im going to need the 3 or 4 months to forget about just how much rome excess i have viewed recently.

I think you inspired me to give it a 3rd watch through. For me it also has a nice escape facet since im old watching people who were in their prime age out too is kind of a bad reminder. It might be nice to watch some of these actors i like in their younger states and escape the reality of linear inescapable time… or at least thats how i perceive it!

I watched one season after they got to America, but then got really bored with it. The first 3 series are amazing.

Really enjoyed this. I was surprised that it was produced by Barack and Michelle Obama! Hope there is a season 2. I’d love to hear the Mother Superior’s story of how she went from running a convent to growing magic mushrooms. That should be fun!

Maika Monroe is quite an unusual actor. She appears to be emotionless at the start of the film but as it goes along draws you in w/her minimalist style. This is definitely a slow burn of a movie and not a typical whodunit or horror film. I wasn’t sure I liked it at first since it took awhile for the movie to develop but after the first hour things really came together & I was mesmerized. Cage is quite compelling in this and virtually unrecognizable. Don’t expect a typical horror/murder mystery w/this movie. It’s quite fascinating & unique.

She is a remarkable actor, daring to challenge the norms and breakaway from traditional “beautiful girl” roles. I found this film fantastic; and I agree with your summary!

Gary (2024)
pramwire 2 points 3 months ago.

One of my favorite gary tie ins was the Postal 2 video game where he becomes a sort of mission boss in the mall.
If i had to guess id say it was probably in many ways in poor taste overall but frankly that was the total theme of the game and everything i loved about it as a much needed outlet for frustrations and other negative things.
Of course i was old enough to grow up around gary being on tv but too young to actually appreciate anything significant he was in at the time or in their rerun periods.
Still i look forward to seeing this myself to learn much more about him.
Sometimes we learn the most about things after they are lost to us except in memory.

Romesh certainly stays busy! Im glad im not a superfan or i worry there would be no free time to watch anyone else.
I have watched some of the most basic fare he has been a part of and still enjoyed it much to my own amazement thinking id be tuning out in 5 minutes or less.
No matter the genre you can count on romesh to insert as much comedy or humor as is reasonable.

I’m really looking forward to watching this. I would like to see his untimely death taken seriously. Hopefully this will push the matter into the publics conscience and reveals what really happened to Gary. It premieres on Aug 29th. That also happens to be the 10th anniversary of my sisters death. We all still miss you Kelly RIP, with Nanny and Grampa and Uncle Mike too

magically_delicious 2 points 3 months ago.

You’d think a death cause like this (epidural haematoma) would raise some suspicion that it wasn’t a natural death. He was used, and abuse. RIP.

This show is a very slow burn. It is more soap opera/after school special with True Detective themes. If you are looking for “Jumper” style action, you will find little of it here, as that component plays a very secondary role in this first season. Hopefully the second season will pick up the pace. All in all 3/5.

I live in a secluded old farmhouse and don’t watch many horror flicks lest I get scared at night. Gotta watch Cage tho. Sometimes he is just too good! I saw him talking about his fascination for the occult in an interview once and he really does scary well. Loved this from beginning to end. The videography was excellent. Story was original. Very creepy.

Been a good season so far, I can see a build up, like a slow burn to a crescendo, and it’s going to be a good one, I can feel it. Too bad it’s going to be the last one, but at least they gave it a chance to end right, thanks to all the fans complaining about how they left it off the last time.

Ok deleted my comment because I didn’t like that they made the main female lead character black when she supposed to be a white character !I’m a black man saying that so why is that wrong!

hellsingfan01 2 points 3 months ago.

It’s not wrong but at the same time it’s also not something that really effects the story of the film either ye being true to the comic book is a good thing but at the same time this change is so small minuet that it’s hardly the film biggest issue.

Didn’t really care for it. It’s very much a style over substance kind of film. There are a lot of great shots, it looks really good, but all of the characters seem like they’re doing a parody. Would not be surprised if this was written by AI due to how many elements from other movies are in this.. Zodiac, Annabelle, Silence of the Lambs, etc. Would not really call this a horror movie, more like occult mystery thriller.

agreed, its like it was alluding to scary hell demons, i think a little more rounding on mr. downstairs, as i am not steeped in that christian tradition it was a little vague for me. i thought the acting was great though. its just that something rounding the meaning of it or something was lacking, some substance to get me scared a bit more, might just be me..

Having lived through the AIDS pandemic, I’ve found no other movie has realistically captured the emotional and societal devastation the gay community experienced during those first years of the AIDS epidemic like this film. We all lost so many wonderful friends. It was never ending. Some went quickly, but many painfully lingered. I can still feel the absence of their presence in my life today.

At the time, it was a bold move on the part of the filmmakers behind this movie, and actors, to tackle the controversial/taboo subject of AIDS/homosexuality. No other studio would touch it. Bruce Davidson was rightfully nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role, but sadly lost out. Having just re-watched this film after all these years since I first saw it in the theater, it still has the same emotional impact on me today as it did back then.

If your interested, watch the documentary “We Were Here” for a more informative and in-depth look at the first outbreak of AIDS from the gay men and woman who stepped up to help care for AIDS patients and the pioneers of AIDS Awareness. https://www.primewire.tf/movie/1083474-we-were-here

pramwire 1 points 3 months ago.

I don’t recall where i got the notion to watch this from. I could swear someone recommended it or i overheard someone talking about it but perhaps it was a random like show automated suggestion somewhere.
I made to about the 4th or 5th debunk where adam explains how pop can pull tabs are “literally worthless”.
I had to quit once he started being amazingly not just wrong but backwards.
I guess if you have never personally handed over tabs for money at a recycling center that pays for aluminium steel cans you might simply not know.
I mean if im doing a proper tv show id think accuracy would be fairly important.

After seeing him go from over explaining everything with too much padded comedy to making a vague blanket statement like they aren’t worth nothing kid i just thought this actually is quite bad.

Its like when you fact check too much of horrible histories. While entertaining the worst kind of entertainment is that which masquerades as informative or knowledge while including inaccuracies.

My guess would be that toxic monsters, like those portrayed here, would call their island something like that. The filmmakers probably wanted that toxicity represented in the title, but the studio feared the public backlash it would probably get given the resurgence of fundamentalism in the US right now.

Thriller and the actors were so believable that I was glad it ended the way it did. I didn’t see any promos for this one but I read the synopsis and that was what made me want to watch it but there were no hints of the twists and turns. I’m not going to give away any either, you’ll have to watch it.
