It’s blood-simply Hammett time.
Hah! I read his name and thought the same thing - it’s gonna be bloody. Nonetheless Dashiell Hammett is a great writer, and not always bloody (The Maltese Falcon). I read Red Harvest when I was younger and ever since I’ve been a fan. I look forward to this movie, when I have a chance to watch.

Inspired by the novels of Hammett, particularly Red Harvest.
Thanks, Alien. Always on the lookout for good ones to add to the list. Any Hammett inspired or influenced flick is worth checking out. (The .ag links don’t work any more for me. I had to change it to .li but then it came up.)
You’re welcome, SJ and thanks for the domain info.
Want a good drinking game? Take a shot every time someone says some variation of “Jesus, Tom.”
Still my favorite Coen Bros movie.
A much-overlooked Coen brothers gem. Inspired performance by Gabriel Byrne.
My fave of theirs. I own it on DVD & have watched it many times.
“I wanna see you sweat a little!…and when ya smart me, it RUINS it.”
Classic Coen Brothers. Very dark gangster film. This was Barry Sonnenfeld’s last film for the Coens of 3 as DP (Blood Simple & Raising Arizona were the 1st two). Just beautifully shot. Stellar acting by an incredible cast. Well worth a watch or two.
4/5
I read somewhere this was compared to The Godfather, I wouldn’t go that far. Still a decent film. Cohen bros have better ones though imo. Also, for some reason I find the score really annoying and not matching with the vibe of the movie
