Maika Monroe is quite an unusual actor. She appears to be emotionless at the start of the film but as it goes along draws you in w/her minimalist style. This is definitely a slow burn of a movie and not a typical whodunit or horror film. I wasn’t sure I liked it at first since it took awhile for the movie to develop but after the first hour things really came together & I was mesmerized. Cage is quite compelling in this and virtually unrecognizable. Don’t expect a typical horror/murder mystery w/this movie. It’s quite fascinating & unique.
She is a remarkable actor, daring to challenge the norms and breakaway from traditional “beautiful girl” roles. I found this film fantastic; and I agree with your summary!
