The first episode was very good. I really loved the Gotham series, and it looks like this might be even better!
I admit I watched the first episode hoping I wouldn’t like it so I could remove it from my queue. It was very good. Now I have to watch it all.
Lol, same here… I’m loving that it’s not really, a batman thing. It’s - it’s own thing. Anyway, Danny DeVito did Batman’s Penguin the best, imo…
Yeah Batman must be on vacation during this show or something hehe. I agree with you that “it’s, it’s own thing” and I also loved Danny Devito as The Penguin in Batman Returns…he was GREAT. I am not gonna say that his version was the “best” just yet though cuz this show is only in a few episodes and Colin Farrell is a great actor also so I wanna see who’s interpretation is my favorite but after the season ends I think. They obviously are going in a more realistic version of The Penguin in this show. I wonder if Colin will do better than Devito? No one thought that Heath Ledger was gonna play a better Joker than Jack Nicholson but we all know what happened there as much as I love Nicholson hehe. Only time will tell though.
👍😊 Yeah, Danny’s version was ott, but it was spot on, as a proper (conventionl comics) Batman’s Penguin. Colin’s version is deffo not ‘comics’ - nowt about this series is. :)
Yeah I saw the behind-the-scenes and they said they were going for more of a gangster show than comics. Also, the show is rated TV-MA and therefore more violent and more offensive in language than any Batman movies cuz they’re all PG-13 so yeah definitely a different direction hehe.
Fantastic series! Highly recommended and a must watch! 5/5 Stars!
wow this is really good ! coliin ferrel is amazing
Bloys shared this would have aired in spring 2024 but is being pushed to summer because of the ongoing strikes. An IP win, Bloys called it “a good old-fashioned mob story” with Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot from Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” alongside Cristin Milioti, Michael Kelly, and more. Color us excited.
I like the show as a good crime drama. However it could have just as easily been named “The Falcone’s” or “Sophia”. Collin Farrell is doing a great acting job and i would not have know it was him unless i looked it up. Yet there are some more buts. He is entirely to tall to play as The Penguin and other then the limp he has very little semblance to the titular batman villain. They did not even use this real name. It is Cobblepot not just Cobb. Also they mentioned Batman in the first episode and there is no reality in the DCU where Batman is not keeping a eye on so much high profile gang happenings. I would at least liked to have seen a shadow in a alley or on a rooftop from time to time.
this show is up there with the sopranos as one of the bests on tv. colin farrell is fantastic as the penguin, there is a clip on youtube where he is thanking everyone when they finished filming and he is speaking in his native irish voice dressed as the penguin and it didnt feel right.
Just watched the first episode, it’s amazing! I didn’t know there is actually still good stuff to watch. What a treat!
UPDATE: third episode already the downturn. Not gonna watch this any longer…
Best series by far….. love The Batman

Never been really into these comics-movies-shows as i lasted a season or two of The Flash, a season or 2 of Gotham a season or two of this that and tother, but this preview looks amazing… Might be a wat til late september/early october, but might just be worth it
If you want to watch an actually good comic book TV show then check out The Penguin but if you want to watch that is at best a 6 out of 10 show then check out Agatha All Along.
I agree with this. I look forward to watching this show.
Same here every episode of this show thus far has been really good and really well written as well.
Far too often “creatives” take an IP and create a story that can’t stand on its own, with only hopes to cash in on the popularity of the existing IP. After two episodes, this might be a show that being attached to The Batman IP is almost a disservice to the show. What they’re doing here does more than stand on its own. You’ll know who these characters are before you know their names, no hours of exposition necessary. Rhenzy Feliz’s Victor is the one unknown in all of this and being any more than set dressing with Colin Farrell snarling at him from across the scene is a job unto itself. It’s rare for a show to come together knowing this is it, their one and only chance to tell this story, and just lay it all out there. No holding things back for future season or movie spinoffs, just pure storytelling. Sadly, too many writers don’t understand that you have to know where you’re going before you can get there.
Collin just took this character to “good fellas level” a darker version from the cartoon world, there was no hero’s or bad guys just pure greed in all angles, street justice and carnage as well as double and triple crossing each other, mental illness was displayed from different angles, we all knew Victor was doomed the moment he crossed path’s with Oz, his character reminds me of bits and pieces of scumbags i’ve meet in my life, they talk all this sound good crap with no substance whatsoever behind it just their gain.
the reason this dint fail is because Disney dint get a hold of it and make it into WOKE garbage and killing the kid at the end was a + because someone like the penguin would never carry any passengers
No the reason that this show was a success was because of the fact that it has a creative team behind it that actually care about the characters and the IP and yes them killing off the kid was the best move that the show could have made for all the reasons that you said and then some but it could also be argued that that was The Penguin being kind as he knew that The Batman would go after and that Sofia will definitely go after him.
