Hailed as one of the best sci-fi novels of the decade, Dark Matter is a story about the road not taken. The series follows Jason Dessen, a physicist, professor, and family man who – one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago – is abducted into an alternate version of his life. Wonder quickly turns to nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the multiverse of lives he could have lived. In this labyrinth of mind-bending realities, he embarks on a harrowing journey to get back to his true family and save them from the most terrifying, unbeatable foe imaginable: himself. |

Waiting to binge watch it all at once. Looking forward to Season 1 being complete. UPDATE: Finished watching it in 2 days. It’s a banger!
well done.. not a new concept, sure hope they get to tell a complete strory before it gets axed.. I watched the first episode, will watch the second, then i will wait till the last episode is out.. I hate investing time into a show that is good but never gets to finish the story, or is just a series of cliffhangers with no ending.. First episode is pretty good..
It has a strong start. In addition to the writing & production, it’s well-cast. Edgerton is what Spacey could’ve been. He’s stepping into the territory of Tatiana Maslany of original Orphan Black, but he seems up to the task. They all are. Connelly is extremely tough & versatile, and Alice Braga is as good as her aunt, Sonia Braga.
yep, the acting and production is all top notch..The show and storytelling draws you right in.. I hope this one goes all the way
Completely. It would be nice to get at least a 3 season in depth story arc that doesn’t paint itself into a self-derivative unimaginative lazy writing corner.
That sounds like a good idea. I watched the first one, and agree. Might also look and see if they are going to make a second season, or if they are just going to drop it at the end of the first, or if at the very least will bring it to a conclusion with one season, rather then just making one season and leaving us hanging.
2 episodes then wait and see what happens. I like that idea. Enough to see if it’s worth it, but not enough to tick you off if they screw us over….again….
Yeah, looks like a slow telling of a story with cliff hanger endings..i will wait for the season to be done before I watch any more.. feels like a long drawn out episode of the twilight zone.. kinda dissapointed already ..
i liked the first one. Will watch the second one, that usually tells me a lot. Then I will follow your suggestion and wait for the rest of the season to come out and see what they did with it, and if they are going to re-up, complete it in one shot, or leave us all hanging and not renew. If they do that last, I probably won’t bother with it anymore. Tired of them doing that with me, you get all that time invested in a show for nothing. But a complete story is another thing, or knowing it will be renewed is also good.
Was there a foreign version of this? I keep getting déjà vu ! I remember a scientist that maliciously switched lives with his doppelganger from the other universe ‘cause a loved one died in his universe…or something like that. I remember them going through a tunnel that connected the two universes. Then again, I may be mixing up two different films…I watch so many that they’re all running together or overlapping because of the similarities. Yep…the mind, she’s done gone now!!!
If anyone remembers or can think of that other one, please take me out of my misery and message me. Thanks!
You are probably thinking of Counterpart, which was U.S. with ties to Germany in the story.
That’s it! Thanks StarWhisper! Re-watching it.
This looks so good. Wish it dropped all at once. Feels like a show that will have a lot of cliff hangers.
Such a great show.
Not bad so far. Hope it doesn’t disappoint.
except they ripped off the show now from another good sci fi series…. get an original name first!!!
I loved that show! I keep seeing comments for this one and then being slightly disappointed when it’s not the other.
But it’s the title of the book this show is adapted from, so I’m sure changing it was never up for discussion. Neither series has anything to do with dark matter, though, so really they should both have to do community service or something.
The book was published in 2016, but the author started working on it in 2014.
what point are you making, the other dark matter came out in 2015. so, which is the chicken and which is the egg.
I was just adding to what you had already said. Writing for the other show probably started up at about the same time as the novel for this did. Dark matter isn’t a new concept. Coincidences do happen, and that’s most likely the case in this instance.
this is based on a book of the same name
Whoa! This sounds like it will be a good watch!
was a great show that ended way too soon..
Was a different Dark Matter, but I totally agree.
For those about to watch or already did..is this a lot like latest seasons of Fringe????
There is the obvious thematic parallel, but that’s as far as the similarity goes.
Renewed for Season 2
This is so damn good! It is the level of circus most required. I need to find his book at Library Genesis. If this adaptation of it > is anything to go by, it must be an amazing read.
I always found Connelly bleh, nothing over the top special about her acting. Also was always kinda weirded out by the creepy older dudes in hollywood that hovered around her when she was younger. shit was sus IMHO
enjoyable from the trailer
First 4 episodes were good then it got pretty boring.
