Show was really good. Just downloaded the book trilogy because I’m impatient. Did the same thing with silo and was not disappointed.

dampyiel2200 1 points 1 year ago.

I couldn’t finish the books got to the 3rd one and kept falling asleep. I think this is the first time in my own personal experience the TV show is better than the book.

dampyiel2200 4 points 1 year ago.

First episode is pretty damn good. I’m hooked.

Binge incoming. When I finish this, I’ll tackle the 30 episode Chinese version.

Hey, GHR… I can’t find sub-titles on any of these versions. Perhaps… they’re not available yet? Idk. But, I definitely don’t want to miss anything. I’ve already watched some of the original, Chinese episodes. I think that theirs, is probably better … in many ways. But also, it feels a little too emotionally and psychologically convoluted, at times. I guess it really just feels like it was tailor-made, specifically… for the collective Chinese mind-set. In other words, there is a lot of abstract, elemental symbolism in it, which will fly over many a person’s head. But, I guess that’s not THAT rare, in Chinese cinema. Is it?

vidmoly.me dood.watch mixdrop.ag streamtape.com voe.sx vtube.to filelions.to streamwish.to all have a version or 2 with Hard-coded subs as of yesterday.

KdubZ22 3 points 1 year ago.

Not sure what all the fuss is about subs! EVERY episode, except episode 1, come with the subs hard-coded in them. I watched episode 1 on Netflix, just so I could figure out what was going on, and it had the subs already there as well. Don’t waste your time trying to find subs to download; they are totally unnecessary!

Steppenwolf71 1 points 1 year ago. 5/5 stars.

Tx, yeah ghr told me how to add vidsrc, after the subs showed up. So, I did what he said, even though I had it already. I was like wtf? I had 2x vdsrc’s and now it had subs.

Literally been waiting 8 years for this

This is big guys. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

A pretty good watch. It starts off a bit slow, but by episode 4 it starts picking up the pace. If you’ve read the books, it’s a bit of a letdown, though. While it touches on some of the thought-provoking ideas presented in the novels, it does little to flesh them out.

I’ll be the first to admit that the books can be a tough read. Packed with science, paragraphs and even pages can go on about the details of these ideas. The author is actually a power plant engineer and not a trained writer, so while he is strong on the science, his character development leaves much to be desired.

One change I did like is that, unlike the books, the story is presented linearly, making it much easier to follow. Liu Cixin said in an interview that he feared opening the story, like we see here in this adaptation, might have provoked the censors too much.

So while this isn’t the show I hoped it would be, I understand that literary works like these are extremely difficult to adapt to the screen. You want a product that is appealing to as large an audience as possible, while also keeping in mind that you might only have just the one season to tell the story as best as you can. If you don’t mind the science, I highly recommend reading the books.

Let us hope we aren’t children lost in a dark forest, crying out for companionship, but only drawing the attention of wolves.

Now on to the Tencent production. I’m very curious to see how that adaptation compares.

biker_71 1 points 1 year ago.

never read the books but sounds like the story is told in the way that the Chinese version presents it. if you think this version is slow just wait until you watch the Chinese version lol personally i found it kind of dry and a bit of a slog to finish.

Steppenwolf71 2 points 1 year ago. 5/5 stars.

Do you guys have a link for the Chinese series?

Thank you.

expresso 2 points 1 year ago. 5/5 stars.

At least one quantum level above all the other sci-fi I’ve seen.

Wizzdom 1 points 1 year ago. 4/5 stars.

This series is excellent and highly recommended. The story is so good it makes up for the horrifyingly distracting “acting” skills of Eiza Gonzalez. She makes Megan Fox and Ruby Rose look like Oscar winners and the show still holds up.

Piglet 1 points 1 month ago.

Looks like we’ll have to wait until 2026 to see season 2…..deep sigh goes here.

grhaggerty 1 points 3 months ago. 4/5 stars.

Very impressive 1st episode. Hope the rest of this series is as good.

Piglet 1 points 1 year ago.

March 21, 2024, release and I guess I’ll watch a couple of episodes to determine if I want to continue.

GeminiSaga 1 points 1 year ago.

First 5 episodes were good and then it got pretty slow and boring.

Researcher 1 points 1 year ago. 4/5 stars.

I just know my fellow Travelers (waiting for that portal to open up nearby) are here tonight!! It’s that quest for the contemporary scientific puzzler that does it for us, isn’t it? LOL!!

Bingeing tooo—naiii—iiight!!!

dayz_hk 1 points 1 year ago.

im up to ep 7.

i think i prefer the 30 part chinese version.
the characters and story plot are so much deeper

grasshopper rex 1 points 7 months ago. 4/5 stars.

It has been confirmed that there will be 3 seasons in total.

Alien 1 points 7 months ago.

Right on! ;)

kraichgau -1 points 1 year ago.

i didnt read the books,so i am “illiterate”,but isnt it like any other “last-resort-religion”,which is hoping, another entity would save one from the real world?
and,for that matter, isnt the surprise, when it comes, most times worse than the status quo?

Tiger8me 1 points 1 year ago.

Yea, like the Twilight Zone’s “How to Serve Man” episode…lol. What was the ending message? “The book, the book, it’s a cook book.” Lol.
