This has been done exceptionally well I am very impressed with the acting as well as the FX.
I loved, loved, loved the first episode. The amazingly compelling re-imaging and re-telling of Bram Stoker’s terrifying novel was completely mesmerising for me. Sardonic, irreverent, terrifyingly unique and riveting due to mostly Danish actor Clase Bang and his delivery, timing and overwhelming “presence” as Count Dracula. This actor has a presence that cannot be denied. However, the second episode worked (again, anytime Clase Bang was on-screen it was riveting) even though it was more of a “mystery” than a horror, but it worked. The third episode made me wonder a true WTF happened. Again, though, anytime Clase was on-screen as Dracula, the quality went up. He is truly multi-dimensional and underrated. Dolly Wells as Agatha (especially in episode one) has amazing timing and delivery. Talk about a cheeky nun! The third episode seemed to have a pacing and [choice of] actors that fell well below the first two. The ending was a complete disappointment. Episode 3 falls into the melodramatic unevenness of a soap opera. Nevertheless, I would still recommend this series, with the knowledge that it does turn arseways from the magnificent start. 3.5/5
A reimagining of the classic Dracula story. The first 2 episodes I found to be wonderfully Gothic, with beautiful dark Victorian era sets and an adequate mix of horror and wit. I even forgave the terrible wavering accents by the cast. But… by episode 3, both Moffat and Gatiss had obviously hit the crack pipe, hard! What a mess. I want my 4.5 hours back - and some of my TV license fee that went towards paying for this crap.
I liked the series very much. The end not so much but still a great tv series.
loved the first ep the second was good but not as good as the first and I’m having a really hard time getting through the last. I would have preferred that it stay a period drama. However it is still worth a watch in my opinion. I also think Coppola’s was the best
agree on all points
yes the third one did disappoint me. However, I was kind of expecting it to not keep the great momentum of the first episode. I don’t know what gave me that clue. Like I said it was worth the watch
Well acted and filmed, worth the watch. I really liked the time jump forward however I felt that they needed to continue the story further. I would have liked to see how he progressed in society especially the future… as in billionaire dracula empire of sorts. It would have also been nice to have another Van Helsing although the one loop hole I see is that she was without child and a nun in the past so how she had offspring later I do not know (or that is the darkness Drac saw in agatha, adoption). Overall I liked it just needed a few more episodes 3/5.
When I watched the series for the first time, I thought the first episode was superb, the second quite good and the third one so so. But second time around, I think that it was great. Pretty clever take on an old legend. And I really liked the dark humour of the main character.
Gatiss and Moffat, who still go scene-to-scene doing some stuff remarkably well, then cheesing tf out, undermining what should be applauded.
I now do not remember if there were or were not bloobies.
Typical bloody BBC. Starts well then disappears up it’s own arse in an orgy of pretentious, too clever for it’s own good, sensationalist nonsense. Enjoy the first two episodes which are excellent, for the third expect Doctor Who.
true
Episode 1 was great. Looking forward to the rest.
Amazing TV series
The Brits are known for making superb dramas! They outshine American dramas whether it’s a modern day drama or a period drama, all are excellent! It seems Hollywood is a afraid to make period dramas, guess they think there is no money in period pieces and they rely on ratings. That’s why many of us use websites like primewire to watch fine quality shows from across the pond! Netflix is trying to fill that void with some unique series and movies, but they have a lot of catching up to do!
Being English myself I’d love to be flattered but when the US come out with gems like The Wire, The Sopranos and Game of Thrones (although admittedly the actors were nearly all British in that one) we are clearly trailing in your wake when it comes to TV dramas. With the odd classy exception like Peaky Blinders most of what we make these days is a mess; often mired in right on political correctness at the expense of realism and factual accuracy (especially if it’s from the BBC). Usually even the good ones only start well and end up as garbage (Sherlock/Luther for example). Sure we do period dramas better, but I’d swap all of them for one Breaking Bad.
I miss Breaking Bad. Don’t know if you ever saw this or not, but going to give you a link for a movie that picks up where Breaking bad left off, all about Jessie Pinkman. There were some lose ends, ties them up pretty good, all I’m going to say if you have not seen it, I thought it was right good, and really a fitting way to tie the whole thing up.

I really have enjoyed the “Breaking Bad” prequel series “Better Call Saul” it’s SUCH a great series. I think the upcoming new season will be it’s last though.
Ah, nice one. I didn’t realise they’d released the movie yet. Thanks.
Have you watched the “Breaking Bad” prequel series “Better Call Saul”? It’s excellent.
YW, glad I could help. You will like this, was really good!
BBC spews out more garbage. I don’t know what happened. BBC used be known for making THE best television in the UK. Now, they’re too busy either trying to shock people or pushing political agendas. This is, what, the 4th literary classic BBC has ruined in the last year or so Oh well…….I look to Sky now for quality British shows.
