Wow! The trailer was good and it will be interesting to see this in the time period that it was wrote in! I wrote a paper for a college history class about Orson Welles radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds and how people on the east coast reacted! Many thought Hitler was invading the USA! Eleanor Tomlinson plays Amy in this BBC series and if you’re a Poldark fan, you will recognize her as Demelza Poldark. She is a great actress and can’t wait to watch this mini-series! How mind blowing could it be to see flying machines in the 1890’s? H.G. Wells had an incredible mind and imagination too!

Jhigh03 -1 points 5 years ago.

You know whats funny, I mentioned this radio brodcast to my parents and my grandmother after dinner one day about 2 months ago and neither of them recalled it.(I was born in 1980) I was hoping my grandmother maybe heard it or experienced some of the reactions surrounding it at least, but nothing. And my parents have always been into scifi but they had no knowledge of it either.

I wrote a paper about Orson Welles’ radio broadcast back in 1982 for a college history course. Hitler had started moving across Europe and many on the east coast of the USA thought he was invading the US. Others did think it was aliens. The broadcast took place on October 30, 1938. I had also taken a film course and Orson Welles’ The Third Man-1949 was a movie we watched. I was intrigued by Welles but he was full of himself but had this incredible creative mind.

HG Wells? Sounds good to me. I don’t see a release date yet but hopefully soon!

Jhigh03 -1 points 5 years ago.

I might have missed this if not for you. This plot line has really been done to death in recent years with Falling Skies, V and Colony just to name a few. BBC usually does quality work so here’s hopping they bring something new to the formula.

RowdyRepublican 1 points 5 years ago. 5/5 stars.

Falling skies probably being my favorite out of all of those. I don’t even think I watched the last episode even when I rewatched it last year or the first time I watched it :/. I bought the whole series on disc, actually.

The remake of V is the only one I’ve seen and I don’t think I actually finished that either but that was just because of life. I’ll have to go back and watch it one day.

Jhigh03 2 points 5 years ago.

The first season of falling Skies was epic then it completely jumped the shark with his daughter, they did manage to make most of the supporting actors interesting and it kinda had a Walking Dead vibe what with random people having to band together. V only lasted for 2 seasons I believe and it was before streaming had really taken off so if you missed it when it aired you were sol. It was canceled just as it got going. I’m sure it would have a larger audience now because of network streaming. And Colony was canceled the same way, which really sucked cause they left many mysteries unresolved. A great show while it was on the air but in hind site a total waste of time. Imagine lost with no 4th or 5th season, smdh. I feel like the BBC usually has a series planned out from start to finish ( like Orphan Black)so i have high hopes this could end up being a satisfying show all the way through.

PacificLilly 0 points 5 years ago. 1/5 stars.

Thank you, all of you!! I might have missed it as well. Added to my watchlist and will keep checking back for info on when it will air. This has great potential! Not to mention HG Wells! Very exciting!

jamiemark 1 points 5 years ago.

Super pumped to see this, as the trailer looked great. So let’s get this straight, this series is titled The War of the Worlds, and Fox has their own series titled War of the Worlds starting at the end of October. Way to create consumer confusion. This one looks like the better of the two to me though, the Fox show sounds very much like another Falling Skies. I did enjoy Falling Skies for the most part, like TWD but with aliens. Plus it ran in the summer, so it was great having a new show to watch when everything else was on hiatus. I wasn’t thrilled with how the series ended though, it seemed like a very rushed, slapped together type of finale.

PonderThis 1 points 5 years ago.

Well, it’s nothing like we’ve seen before! It is full of shocks and a collision of sci-fi, period drama and horror. I do like period dramas and this is a great one too! The mind of H.G Wells was incredible to think of UFO’s, Martians. In most Hollywood movies, the aliens don’t live long but not the case in this version!

also ray guns :)

gsaint 1 points 5 years ago.

Yikes!, no Ep 3?!!!

DemandingFemale 4 points 5 years ago.

The three 60 minute episodes were edited into two 90 minute ones.

gsaint 4 points 5 years ago.

Thanks, ever so, for that. Yikes!, I actually watched the end and didn’t realise it? Me dumb, think I.

karloff 1 points 5 years ago.

enjoying it so far

Alucard 1 points 5 years ago.

Does anyone know what happened to episode three? There was ten servers showing they had it earlier today then they just vanished. Help Please Thank you.

MovieBuff 1 points 4 years ago*.

I don’t know where you guys get your ideas from if you think this is good. It’s total crap, I’m English, I saw the American version of The War of the Worlds and thought that was crap too. NO one has taken this film or series to it’s full potential yet. I’m waiting to see who will be first.

I will say one good thing about it though, Robert Carlyle played a good part as usual.

Mojoyable 1 points 5 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

No episode 3? Say Dec 1, it’s past that. Others have said the sky opening up was the ending, that they combined episodes…but in the books the final scene was her learning her husband was alive too…or so I read… call me a romantic but want that too.

gunnerdan 1 points 5 years ago. 5/5 stars.

OK this is wrong .. theres no WAY this has 8 eps .. theres another WotW 2019 i think theres some confusion

finigan1 -2 points 5 years ago.

Love that it takes place in the time period that it was written in and about, all other versions I have seen are present day, like that crappy tom cruise version.Looking forward to the rest. The bbc does it again.

kingarco66 -1 points 5 years ago. 5/5 stars.

whoever put this up - thank you, thank you!

finigan1 -3 points 5 years ago.

Just to be clear, the 2 episodes that are here is the entire show, the bbc put it out as 3 episodes in the uk but it aired as 2 episodes here in canada,I was confused to waiting for the third episode to air when there isn’t one.If a mod could get rid of the third episode it would help with any confusion.

truxlady33 0 points 5 years ago.

So this is different than the French one that recently aired. Thankfully can understand this one.

Skyehawk -2 points 5 years ago.

Does anyone know when Episode 3 will be out?

BTETW -4 points 5 years ago.
