A spiritual descendant of the Penny Dreadful story set in Victorian-era London, the next chapter opens in 1938 Los Angeles, a time and place deeply infused with Mexican-American folklore and social tension. Rooted in the conflict between characters connected to the deity Santa Muerte and others allied with the Devil, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels explores an exciting mix of the supernatural and the combustible reality of that period, creating new occult myths and moral dilemmas within a genuine historical backdrop. This chapter is a bold new vision that employs all-new characters and storylines. |

i’m on the 5th episode and I have no idea why I’m still watching it.
the writing is all over the place, almost all of the characters & storylines are utterly uninteresting. Everything has devolved into a who is sleeping with who soap opera sort of nonsense and i simply cant bring myself to care.
5 epsiodes in and nothing really ‘mythological’ like the original Penny, sans the two mexican whatever they ares, which again, are utterly idiotic & uninteresting.
Dropped. 0/10 stars
I stopped after 2 1/2. Nothing like or as good as the first.
stopped watching after 1st episode, absolute garbage
dunno ! not liking the new characters xD & where its going ! the 1st penny dreadful i give it a 10/10 when it was in the “Victorian era” when Eva green & the other characters are in it.
I can’t wait for more!!
As for the first episode, it is an anemic and flimsy, skeletal half cousin to Eva Green’s “Penny”, for a start. The wriintg is chaoitic and unrepentant and without uniform purpose. The story is without a voice. Avoid.
So glad they found a way to continue this show. The original cast was one of the best I’ve seen and i hope the new one is just as good. Anthologizing this show was a great move :)
Rory Kinnear is in it and I really like him in the other one. I’m looking forward to this for sure
yeah hes a good actor what about eva green i wish she was in it too the only real penny dreadful.have a nice day my friend rose.
It would be great to see her too for sure. You have a nice day too my friend
I honestly don’t see much of a connection between this and its parent series, but I am willing to give this one a chance before I make my final decision. I will state that I have strongly mixed emotions about one of the central themes being the racism and classism against the Latin culture. On the one hand, I think it’s great that they are pinpointing an attitude that has been neglected by the media and history. On the other hand, I don’t want to see this attitude marginalized and accepted as right by modern society. So long as they keep the idea that racism is wrong, then it could be a really good, intense series. For now, I’m waiting for it to pick up, and I’m willing to see where it goes.
i hope its going further where the other show of penny dreadful left of i loved that show,if so i know i,m gonne love it too.
Yep, me too. Glad to see more
hey old friend how are you dear i hope your good have a great day and its nice to see you here again my friend..hans.
So disappointing. Predictable, preachy , clichéd and worst of all … BORING !! By the time it was finished i was checking to see if I’d inadvertently clicked on a link for Days of Our Lives. Just one weeping wailing episode after another with some God awful dancing thrown in along the way. I really enjoyed the first series … this was 10 hours I’ll never get back.
Anything Nathan Lane is in is worth my time.
One Week and Counting… Showtime’s spinoff of 2014’s Penny Dreadful series
is now only ONE Week away!
Excellent time to get into the Penny Dreadful mindset by binging the original series before the new series begins.
HERE’S another Sneak Peek at what’s in store.
I watched the first episode & it is exactly as I expected.
Racists propaganda to justify violence against white Americans.
Remember the knockout games, Black teenagers would run up behind a white person & punch them in the back of the head. If this show becomes a hit, expect the knockout game to come back, except this time the perpetrators will be Latinos.
COMING SOON! New Showtime TV Series Debuts April 26th for 8 Episodes.
