Jared, an Indigenous teen, is struggling to keep his family above water when a mysterious stranger, Wade, blows into town and turns his already chaotic life inside out. And when weird things start happening, it becomes clear that he's also the mythic magical being the Trickster. What begins as an unnerving slow burn of strange events in Jared's already-messy life crescendos to an epic clash of magic, monsters and mayhem.Adapted from the Son of a Trickster trilogy of books by award-winning author Eden Robinson.

I am a big fan of First Nation Canadian actors. I like all the characters and so far the story is good. Seems it will be a short first season. This kind of show would never get made in the U.S. so this is a nice treat.

I was told there would be fry bread LMAO!! This is pretty cool so far. I hate that I have to wait 6 days for another episode :(

Peevee 6 points 4 years ago.

CBC shows, especially lately, tend to be pretty good. Haven’t watched this yet but it’s on my list!

Asylum 0 points 4 years ago. 1/5 stars.

I am going have to disagree. As a Canadian I wish CBC put on good shows, but the fact is if you look at the good shows in TV. They rarely come from Canada or CBC unfortunately

YELLOWbird 4 points 4 years ago*.

As another Canadian my reply would be, tell that to the writers, producers and directors of the much lauded “Schitt$ Creek”. Or then there is “The Nature of Things with David Suzuki” in its 59th season. Also “Kim’s Convenience” a sitcom picked up by Netflix. All three are available here on Primewire.

zyter 3 points 4 years ago.

“They rarely come from Canada or CBC unfortunately” pretty sure having a single good show would qualify as rarely.

Asylum 0 points 4 years ago*. 1/5 stars.

Breaking Bad is from America so are some other good shows like X Files, Lost, etc. These shows are popular and they come from the State’s. Name one good Canadian shows that is popular. So yeah that’s why I said rarely, all the good shows are from the American networks and arent Canadian.

Mojoyable 4 points 4 years ago.

Asylum - as a lover of sci-fi and fantasy, I love Canadian shows. The Expanse, Killjoys, Orphan Black, Continuum, Travelers, Stargate SG1, to name just a few…and if you count the American ones filmed in Canada as well the number triples.

zyter 1 points 4 years ago.

I think you got your replies mixed up. I was agreeing with you and telling yellowbird that the one good canadian show they mentioned does in fact fall under your “rarely” comment.

TimlyMiner 1 points 4 years ago.

umm what about Lost Girl ?

Asylum -2 points 4 years ago. 1/5 stars.

What show? oh wait that garbage show on Showcase sorry but most people dont know what that show is so what about Lost Girl?

warn 0 points 4 years ago.

Can’t argue with that. All the best drama/horror comes from America

Peevee 4 points 4 years ago.

Imho the best drama and comedy come from the UK. Honestly, most countries have stepped up their game with the tv shows they produce especially in Europe!

Mandalorian 5 points 4 years ago.

I see a lot of Canada don’t make good shows. I have no idea.. But this is a really good show. I’m from California an really enjoyed the first two episodes.

yes Flicker .. the originl 21 Jump Street, Star Gate, Sting Ray, lets not forget Frankie, such a cool chick.
what people are forgetting is that for decades major studios have set up partnerships with Canada, because of production costs, Locations and so many great Canadian actors.

Mojoyable 3 points 4 years ago.

I saw your comment after writing a similar one. If you love sci-fi or fantasy, Canada does the most and the best ones, so when I saw people saying Canada doesn’t have a lot of good ones, I was really surprised.

zyter 3 points 4 years ago*.

Flicker.. I would never want to go heads up with you in a TV show trivia contest. I’ve seen you around for quite some time here and at the other site most of us used when PW was down. Your involvement and knowledge of TV shows is impressive. Just to be clear, I don’t really look into where TV shows come from. I just watch them if I like them. I saw 2 shows you listed that I really liked and 1 of them that I loved. That show is Project Blue Book and I was disappointed when I found out it was cancelled. While it was indeed filmed in Canada, the story is based in the US. The 5 production companies involved are from the US. the 9 directors that were involved were 1 from Canada, 1 from the UK and 7 from the US. the 6 main actors were 1 from Ireland, 1 from the UK, 1 from Canada, 1 from Russia and 2 from the US. The main network it aired on was the history channel from the US. So I can’t really see this as a Canadian TV show. The only reason I’m even writing this wall of text is out of boredom, nothing more. BTW, what happened to SD.

silverfoxraven 2 points 4 years ago.

Hurts my heart that nobody mentioned Letterkenny while listing good Canadian tv shows :( IF you’ve somehow never heard of it, give it a whirl, it can be silly at times, but also hilarious.

Jhigh03 2 points 4 years ago.

as i was reading that interesting exchasnge i too was wondering about “*LetterKenny”. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a comedy that was as smartly written as that. It may be too much of a “thinker” for people looking to get some laughs off but it truly is a diamond in the ruff. Multiple watches may even reveal some hidden laughs since i’m sure, at least, a few of the jokes went over my head the first time.

Alien 2 points 4 years ago.

Don’t forget “Sanctuary,” thank you very much.

lukkas 3 points 4 years ago. 5/5 stars.

so far i LOVE it.

whatmywifedoesntknow 3 points 4 years ago.

would like to explain why I think this show is terrible but censorship will see me muted

expresso 2 points 3 years ago.

So good, and so disappointing that there will be no Season 2.

Davidleefl43 2 points 4 years ago.

I tried it and really liked it

CodeBlack 2 points 4 years ago.

Looking forward to this, wondering if it’s like the trickster from Supernatural. Lets do this!

Alien 0 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

In “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” Logan’s girlfriend told him the story of the Trickster.

Miffy 2 points 4 years ago.

So so soooooo worth the watch!!!

Fmghost 2 points 4 years ago.

That sucks They should of got someone else to take over the show instead of cancelling it

greenguy86 2 points 4 years ago.

I just don’t understand why they can’t just hire another showrunner. I was really looking forward to a second season.

Only!Tigger 1 points 4 years ago.

Love this show and ready for season 2!

Peevee 0 points 4 years ago.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the show was canceled due to controversy surrounding the showrunner

Only!Tigger 1 points 4 years ago.

Yes I know. Still ready though! Sucks that producers don’t know a grerat show when they have one.

booger 1 points 4 years ago. 5/5 stars.

I have really enjoyed this show so far and am awaiting the 6th and final episode this season eagerly.
Although this has a lot more drama than the typical show I prefer to veg out to, I really kinda dig the thrilling supernatural angle of this and the storyline just pulled me in.
Of course there are a few parts where I said “What the fudgecicle” how/why/would a teenager ever act like that. But in the end, it is not really all that important.
I do recommend this to anyone interested and cannot wait for season 2.

greyfur 0 points 4 years ago.

Show is not coming back, period. No second season. Was one planned, but the person that was behind it seems like she lied about being an Indian, and got found out, and they cancelled the whole thing on account of that, scrapped the second season. Don’t think that’s right, could have just went ahead without her, but that’s what they went and did. No second season, would post you a link, but not allowed here.

Darth_Badger 1 points 4 years ago. 4/5 stars.

Just read that CBC have agreed a second season… header says ENDED though.
Really enjoyed the first series. Something a little different.
Modern, but rooted in tradition.

Peevee 2 points 4 years ago.

the show was canceled due to controversy surrounding the showrunner

Mandalorian 1 points 4 years ago.
