As much as I love the Yellowstone franchise, 1883 was awesome, but this new prequel 1923 is difficult to follow for me, its all over the place, bouncing from area to area and people to people, cant keep up with who is who and what they’re doing and how they fit into the family. The cast is great of course, but parts of the story are very disturbing and sad to watch, especially the mistreatment of the Indian girls by Nuns no less smh. Its hard to realize how bad they were treated in that day and time in the USA smh. Hopefully things will start to come clearer for me soon lol. I’m guessing there was a lot of research done to make sure the info is true and on point so as not to be misleading to those of us who weren’t there, but I would’ve had a difficult time going through that research finding all this info on the mistreatment of the people during that time smh. I surely hope the remainder of the series gets easier to watch.
It is shocking to find out about their treatment but it is true. They have been discovering mass graves over the last several years in Canada. It is not shocking to find out that it was the nuns and the church. They comitted similar atrocities in Ireland and really all over the world if you consider all the rapes of children. Difficult to watch but needs to be known.
One reason why I have no use for organized religion! I am a christian but have not been to church in many, many years. Even my own mother hid behind her religion and thought her physical abuse was what the bible said to do to her children! One reason why I never had kids, didn’t want to do to them what she did to me and my brother. What happens to us as children/teens shapes us into the adults we become. And we can become that parent or go in a different direction. Some take the path of drugs/alcohol which is the path we didn’t take. I’m totally different than my mother. At least the people who inflicted such pain and death did have to answer to the Lord. We can hope the wound up in H__, a certain kind of H_!
So sorry you went through that Piglet but glad you and your brother came through to the other side and are okay now. I also had a rough childhood with a militant christian mother and absent father. I am pretty much against all of organized religion now but do like Buddhism.
I went to look up the name of a movie for you, The Magdalene Sisters, and saw that there are lots of movies on the Catholic church’s abuse that I haven’t seen. Not sure if I will watch them tho because I get too upset!
I have trouble watching children being abused so I may not watch the movie. But thank you for suggesting it. When I’m at the grocer and I hear a parent yelling at their child, I have to turn and walk away for fear of what I might say and it brings back bad memories too. I’ve fast forwarded through some of the scenes with the girls who are being hit. I just don’t understand the reasons the Catholic church would do this type of things for years and years. This right here is why I don’t like organized religion. All the hellfire and brimstone is not the way to convert people to becoming Christians, scare tactics is not the way and the Lord didn’t intend for this path to be taken by church. I know we’re taught not to question why the Lord does/allows things to happen, but damn, abusing children and even adults is not right no matter the religion!
I totally agree Piglet! Strange how the more they claim to be so goody-two-shoes the worse they are.
I’ve wanted to remark about said mistreatment and I didn’t realize how the school kids were treated until a few years ago. I lived in western Oklahoma and went to school with the Cheyenne. I never heard them talk about the mistreatment from their ancestors but it does explain how some were very quiet in class as if they didn’t want to draw attention to themselves. This nation of ours has done so many things to the Africans, the Native Americans and others who immigrated to the US. I have Native American heritage but rarely talk/talked about it because I knew how I would be looked at especially in the 1960’s/1970’s.
It’s HERE!! Woot! Woot!
Just when I didn’t wanna get sucked into anymore series they pulled me back in.
First there was Yellowstone, taking care of business in the 21st century, circa 2018-present. Then, we galloped back in time to 1883 to see the journey the Dutton’s took before settling in Montana. Hold on to your horse reigns, the Yellowstoneverse takes another portal trip, ‘back to the future’, in 1932, continuing the Dutton Family Saga. Will be interesting to see how the Dutton’s manage a farm during the Great Depression Era, with the USA’s new laws that govern guns, White man VS Indian Reservation property, women’s rights, family rights, Politics, child labor, etc., etc. It will be great to see how they transitioned from horse+buggy+surrey, to cars, and, railroad usage.
Very solid start so far, worthy of 1883. I haven’t seen Harrison Ford in something good for a while.
Season 2 starts on February 23, 2025.
Thank you
Very welcome….
Are you trying to figure out who is who in this new drama? Here is what I’ve found out thus far. But who the heck is Spencer Dutton and I’ve found nothing on him yet.
John Dutton Sr.
Fans of 1883 will remember John Dutton Sr. as a little boy, but by 1923, James and Margaret Dutton’s eldest son is all grown up. While the show has yet to confirm it, given his name, it seems likely that John Sr. is the grandfather of Yellowstone’s John.
Emma Dutton
John Sr.’s wife, practical Emma, seems poised to become the grandmother of Yellowstone’s John Dutton. However, so far in 1923, her only confirmed child is Jack, so whether that means that John Dutton Jr. has yet to be born or is simply off-screen isn’t clear.
Jack Dutton
Wild-spirited Jack is the son of John Sr. and Emma. If John Dutton Jr. is, indeed, also their son, that would make Jack his brother, and the uncle of Yellowstone’s John.
I’m my own grandpa ♫

It’s funnier when Ray Stevens sings it.
Piglets description of the show reminded me of the song…
Yeah, I got that.
I like your insight piglet, Providing clarity is appreciated
I remember the good old days when TV shows had 34 episodes a year & the writing was good!

ut oh.. somebody’s showing their age… 😉
will there be a second season & when?
As stated online….
As of April 2024, 1923 season 2 doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s expected to be released by the end of 2024. The season was originally scheduled for late 2023 or early 2024, but the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have delayed production. In June 2023, Paramount+ announced that the second season would be delayed indefinitely due to the strikes. With the strikes resolved, filming is expected to resume in the first few months of 2024
I have waited 10 episodes to see if this show would get better, but it has not. This has to be the slowest evolution of a story I have ever seen. 1883 was a hold onto your seat kind of ride, but 1923 is like watching cold molasses run down hill. In fact, I am at the point where I don’t give a crap if I watch another episode. So disappointed.
The journey towards the release of Yellowstone 1923 Season 2 has been a rollercoaster, marked by production delays due to strikes within the industry. Originally speculated to premiere in late 2023 or 2024, the series faced an indefinite delay. However, with the resolution of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, there’s renewed hope among fans. In a significant update, production manager Charlie Skinner announced that Yellowstone 1923 Season 2 will be filmed in Butte, Montana. While a specific start date remains unconfirmed, this news signals a positive turn in the show’s production timeline.
This show is great, from camera to actors it’s top notch, but it’s so boring, it will slowly make you sick!
Jerome Flynn’s character Banner Creighton is a sheep herder. If you watched the drama Ripper Street, then you might remember him as Bennet Drake, a copper. He hasn’t seemed to age much since I took notice of him in Ripper Street which has its first season in 2012.
I find it hard to believe that major film starts would sign up for this but I’ll give it a go.
TV shows have been better than Hollywood movies for over a decade now…
Milking the hell out of this.
perhaps looking for another Lonesome Dove .. ?? that show had legs ..
No. Not of fan of cowboy soap operas.
the show creators i meant
Give the people what they want. 5/5 stars across the board ;)
