Based on the iconic Leaphorn & Chee book series by Tony Hillerman, Dark Winds is a psychological thriller that follows two Navajo police officers in the 1970s Southwest, as their search for clues in a grisly double murder case forces them to challenge their own spiritual beliefs and come to terms with the trauma of their pasts.

i am deff gonna have to look up the soundtrack to this show when i get finished binging..lol

irdulili 7 points 2 years ago. 4/5 stars.

Definite slow burn, scattered hints about something bigger. Real intriguing, not your usual cop drama. Parts are almost like a dark comedy—Rainn Wilson just showed up. That’s always a preclusion to crazy.

Piglet 7 points 2 years ago.

I’m really impressed with this new drama and I commend AMC for producing this unique drama!

YgraineDance 7 points 2 years ago.

I almost whizzed right past this series, until I saw the cast list and the behind-the-camera names. The literature comes to life. Excellent first eps. and I’m looking forward to more.

grasshopper rex 9 points 2 years ago. 5/5 stars.

The best adaption of Tony Hillerman’s work yet. No doubt in large part due to the producing contributions of McClarnon, Redford and George RR Martin.

expresso 6 points 2 years ago. 4/5 stars.

Zahn McClarnon has been been paying dues as a character actor for a long time - he earned this and I can’t wait :)

boger-t 6 points 1 year ago.

these have been excellent series. really enjoy them. good writing and directing

etim 8 points 2 years ago. 4/5 stars.

I’m on ep2 and this looking to be some pretty good stuff. Well written, worth checking out. Tribal cops with some FBI guys complicating it, some native medicine spookiness tossed in. 7/10 so far.

Piglet 5 points 1 year ago*.

Season 2 of Dark Winds returns on Sunday, July 27th. Can’t wait!

Alien 4 points 2 years ago.

The schedule above seems to be incorrect.

irdulili 3 points 2 years ago. 4/5 stars.

Yeah, no episode this week. Episode 5 comes out the 11th—a Monday and Episode 6 the following Monday or the 18th.

Piglet 5 points 1 year ago.

Season 2 has started, and the 1st episode has dropped, and I will be watching it in a couple of hours!

greyfur 1 points 1 year ago.

Can’t remember making it all the way through the first season or not, didn’t mark the episodes. I remember really wanting to like it, and at first I did, lot about it I liked, but it just dragged a lot in places. Lot of good things I can say about it, but just couldn’t stick with it, got bored. Might have been I was just watching too many things at once had a lot too do with it as well.

Might at some point come back and take another look and try and figure out where I was when I left off and pick back up from there and give this a good binge watch when I have one of those bored moments, couple of days with nothing going on, those do tend to come along…maybe I’m missing something I will catch not having to wait for episodes.

DownrightDebonaire 4 points 1 year ago. 4/5 stars.

Try watching this side by side with Reservation Dogs to keep yourself entertained and see Zahn’s range as an actor. He’s hilarious in the last episode (and end credit bloopers). He gets type cast as a Res cop a lot but each role he plays it differently.

greyfur 2 points 1 year ago.

I have never watched Reservation Dogs, though I have considered it, it looks good, and a lot of people seem to like it. Actually just added a couple things to my list recently, and now and again I wind up adding a movie to my ‘plan to watch’ list, though I rarely ever get to sit down and watch a whole movie anymore, unless it’s something really good that I have been waiting for anymore. Just find that I don’t have the time anymore…

I have a lot of things on my plate at the moment that I am trying to accomplish at the moment, and some possible medical stuff (AGAIN!!!) that’s staring me in the face, so I guess that’s the price of outliving ones enemies….

Was giving some thought of trying once again of culling some stuff from the herd again, but thinking with the actor/writers strike, I might just hang onto what I have as we might not get a lot of new stuff for a while, and I can always backtrack and watch stuff as I get the chance, a little bit here and there, and maybe as I get the change a bit of a binge here and there.

Recently I have had the chance to give myself the time to binge a couple things that I thought were right good, and watch a couple shows as they came out, like ‘Warrior’, which was really well done, and never disappointed, but am going to have to buckle down now on some other things for a bit. Shows will still be here when I’m ready for them. Will go mark Reservation Dogs and give that a chance when I get the chance.

I remember there was one show, can’t remember the name of it, was all Native American, really liked it, but only got one season, got killed off as one of the people behind it got nailed for lying about her heritage I believe, and that get the show cancelled. Thought that was a really bad reason to screw everybody else in the production as everybody else did such a great job. Was a great show, and had a lot of potential.

Native American actors never have really been given the chance to get the opportunity to show just how good they can be at acting, or really show their stuff until recently, and truth be told, they can show some interesting stuff when given the right things to work with, and a bit of funding. Too bad this couldn’t have happened a little sooner.

DownrightDebonaire 4 points 1 year ago. 4/5 stars.

maybe the show was Trickster?

grasshopper rex 4 points 1 year ago*. 5/5 stars.

It was Trickster, but the story is kind of complicated. The short of it is that she, Michelle Latimer, has since been vindicated in her claims and is suing CBC for libel.

DownrightDebonaire 4 points 1 year ago. 4/5 stars.

Wow I had no idea. A shame. It’s one thing when we catch the Dolezal’s. It’s another when -in a community that is so sensitive to blood quantifying how authentic you are- an outsider calls someone out (and is tragically wrong) it causes so much harm. A really amazing show gone and actors out of work. Thanks for sharing I never looked up why it was cancelled so soon.

grasshopper rex 3 points 1 year ago. 5/5 stars.

Cancel culture run amok. We are too quick to judge others now for transgressions, real or perceived, with little or no real evidence. Even in the cases where someone has done wrong, how is it helpful to destroy their lives and careers? We should want them to learn from their mistakes and become better people going forward, not crush them and ruin their lives forever. Al Franken comes to mind. As soon as he was accused his own colleagues attacked him as if they were sharks and smelled blood in the water. His political career was ended for some questionable sexist behavior years in the past and though he admitted it was wrong and truly seemed to understand that and regret it, the damage was done. How was that helpful in the least? There should be repercussions for our actions, but also a path forward to forgiveness and redemption.

Moonshot 1 points 1 year ago.

We have forgotten how to forgive.

girlfreddy 2 points 1 year ago.

Michelle is suing CBC, not CBS. And her vindication is still up for debate as the Algonquin nation does not recognize her.

grasshopper rex 1 points 1 year ago. 5/5 stars.

Regardless of her legal status, I still think she got a raw deal. She grew up being told that she had indigenous heritage. She was raised in an area that a robust indigenous presence. Through no fault of her own she identified as such. I loved Trickster and would have enjoyed seeing more of it. Inconvenient Indian was getting a favorable critical response before it’s distribution was shelved. It just seems a shame to throw out the baby with the bath water.

greenguy86 1 points 1 year ago.

One bad apple spoils the rest… That’s show business.

greenguy86 1 points 1 year ago.

She can sue all she wants, the show is never coming back.

greyfur 1 points 1 year ago.

Yeah, that was the one. So, she actually was the real thing and got screwed? Actually, everybody got screwed. Hope they all sue for lost wages and such, was a great show, lot of people really liked that one, and I believe it was well on it’s was to getting renewed. Too bad that happened.

tardisrider 1 points 1 year ago.

tribal? but that show the lead cop is female so might not be the one you are thinking of.

greenguy86 2 points 1 year ago.

If you were already on the fence with this show, I wouldn’t recommend Reservation dogs. It’s largely not about anything in particular. It can be funny/interesting but you really have to be into it.

Piglet 2 points 2 years ago.

It’s about time a drama like this is being produced! Hollywood didn’t depict the Native Americans in the proper way for years and years! You see a bit on how Native Americans actually were in the drama 1833. Starts next week, June 12th.

Tiger8me 0 points 1 year ago*. 5/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

Do you mean 1883? With Sam Elliot and Tim McGraw?

Piglet 1 points 2 months ago.

The 3rd season starts in March! Can’t wait!

magically_delicious 1 points 2 months ago.

It’s going to be mighty! Thanks for the update.

Piglet 1 points 2 months ago.

Welcome and I just wish it started sooner!

magically_delicious 1 points 2 months ago.

Me, too! I might have to rewatch to satisfy the itch. lol

BoomerRWG 1 points 2 months ago. 4/5 stars.

Nice, can’t come soon enough !

Piglet 1 points 2 months ago.

I agree!

Piglet 1 points 2 months ago.

Season 3 starts in March and some new characters will appear. Jenna Elfman and Bruce Greenwood, two of the show’s new actors. Elfman is an FBI agent and I’ve not seen her in anything for several years; she probably has been acting but as an FBI agent? Bruce Greenwood can take on any character and make it his own.

Piglet 1 points 1 month ago.

Season 3 starts in a few weeks and there will be a season 4 too! Happy Dance!

Twixtid 1 points 11 days ago.

Indians really do point with their lips, my father does it all the time.

Piglet 1 points 11 months ago.

Good news about season 3! Dark Winds has begun production on Season 3, and with that comes a flurry of new castings. As part of its Upfronts presentation on Wednesday, AMC and AMC+ announced that Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg) has been tapped to guest-star on the acclaimed drama as FBI Special Agent Sylvia Washington, while Bruce Greenwood (The Fall of the House of Usher) will play a character named Tom Spenser. Other Season 3 guest stars include Raoul Max Trujillo (Mayans M.C.) as Budge, Tonantzin Carmelo (La Brea) as Border Patrol Agent Eleanda Garza, Alex Meraz (Animal Kingdom) as Border Patrol Agent Ivan Muños, Terry Serpico (Law & Order: SVU) as Border Patrol Senior Chief Ed Henry, Phil Burke (Rabbit Hole) as Michael Halsey, Christopher Heyerdahl (forever Hell on Wheels) as Dr Reynolds and newcomer Derek Hinkey as Shorty Bowlegs.

Piglet 1 points 1 year ago.

As we watched the final episode of season 2, we all were wondering if a season 3 would happen……While AMC has already greenlighted a new season, there is no confirmed release date for Dark Winds Season 3 yet. Per the network’s announcements, the upcoming season will most likely arrive sometime in 2025, which will be a longer gap between seasons unlike the first two. Stay tuned for the latest updates on the Dark Winds Season 3 release date!

Looking for something to replace Nancy Drew, and the reviews look good on this one. I like that people say it’s not like most cop dramas, because I watch enough of those. Always looking for something different.

greenguy86 1 points 1 year ago.

Vastly different from Nancy Drew(I like Nancy Drew, still haven’t finished it). The first season is really solid. Second season is still up in the air.

AmieWarren 1 points 1 year ago.

I know it’s vastly different, I meant I have a slot open so I’ll fill it with this. I’ll miss Nancy and the crew. Read all the books as a child, and the show was nothing like them. Still, really good and fun.

greenguy86 1 points 1 year ago.

This would not be my choice. I’ve been watching Harlen Coben’s Shelter and it is in the same vein of Nancy drew. I read the books too. I have been pleased all around with Nancy Drew. Sometimes characters can be annoying but they all mean well.

AmieWarren 1 points 1 year ago.

I’ll check out Shelter. Thanks for the recommendation.

prism 1 points 1 year ago.

There are several movies titled Shelter on here, can you give the year for it? The two closest I could find are
