This is honestly way better than I thought it would be. Not a huge John Cena fan but I think he’s found his place in the universe playing this character. I begrudgingly enjoy the soundtrack, too. About the same calibre as Harley Quinn, just live action.
I like some of his stuff, but like you said, not a big fan. In this case, also like you said, it would seem he found something where he just hit the nail right on the head. If they keep working this they way they are working it, it could turn out to be a pretty darn good series.
One thing I really hope to see in this though, and have to make this a spoiler on account of saying this for people that might not have watched any of this, is would really like to see that badass blonde wind up to be pals with Eagly. Maybe some heart wrenching scene were he comes over to her and wraps his wings around her like he did Peacemaker that one time…
This is almost exactly what I was about to say; I’m very pleasantly surprised. Actually looking forward to how the characters develop.
This is closer to what I thought I would get with Suicide squad. I knew Harley Quinn would have a lot of her personality involved with the directing. But this pacing and the funny dialogue is what I thought I would get from the DC movies. Their TV shows (to me) are much better
I dunno. Doom Patrol was just weird and Titans is basically a CW drama. They’re alright but not good like this. This is extra AF, from the fruity intro to the after-credit scene, it goes hard and keeps you giggling. I just wonder how long they’ll be able to keep this energy up. I know John Cena can. He’s been popping up like Dio for years. But can D.C.?
I agree Doom Patrol is weird AF but I’m loving Titans. It’s gritty and dark as hell for a show with a mixed age range. I wouldn’t compare it to CW stuff which blatantly uses teen sex appeal to get larger audiences. Riverdale, Legacies, Nancy Drew etc.
Gotta say, though, this past season of Titans was way better than previous ones.
not crazy about the story line. I think maybe a few “monster of the week” episodes would be better but they are used more on shows with a 20+ episode run er season. The build up of a big bad villain across a 8-12 episode season is so much of a gamble and runs the risk of isolating/not living up to the expectation of a good chunk of the audience. I wish there was something in the middle cause this season was EH for me. I didn’t like the guy playing Scarecrow at all.

Great pilot. I’m not a big superhero fan but I do like Cena & he does a great job in this. Entire cast is great too. Writing is top notch & there’s a lot of humor throughout. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

According to the internet a 2nd season for this show has been postponed according to James Gunn the director. The earliest could be 2024, the latest 2025. He is working on two other shows, Superman: Legacy & Waller starring Viola Davis reprising her role of Amanda Waller. Waller will actually continue where Peacemaker left off w/much of the cast of Peacemaker continuing their roles in Waller. So reading between the lines it seems what is being said is we’ll get a ‘2nd season’ kinda sorta of Peacemaker earlier just w/o Cena in the show Waller w/Viola as the main character. Just read that Maggie Q has been cast as Talia al Ghul—Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter—for season 2 of the show. That should make things interesting.

Realize this is a good show based on mindless scifi humor but this show will make more sense if you FIRST watch the movie “Suicide Squad (2016)”,since PeaceMaker is kind’a based on the Movie

He got that wrong btw. It’s not in any way shape or form connected to 2016 Suicide Squad. That is a TERRIBLE film, that nearly ended careers. It’s based on James Gunn’s correction to that film, 2021’s “THE Suicide Squad”.

It’s easy to recommend - it’s where we first see John Cena’s performance as Peacemaker, and it’s a hell of a ride. Only connection the film had to the trash that came before it in 2016, is they retained Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
BTW I saw the 2016 Suicide Squad movie. I liked it & would say it was far from terrible but to each their own. Not seen the newer version yet but will watch it.
Viola Davis played Amanda Waller in 2016 and 2021 and Peacemaker. Which ties all 3 together.

I didn’t want to like this show as I didn’t like Peacemaker in the suicide squad movie. I have to say that i laughed and I mean laughed out loud. Pretty great show I hope there is a season 2.

If you haven’t already seen this show, you really should check it out this James Gunn action comedy that will pull on your heartstrings and make your eyes get teary. And it’s all accomplished by the amazingly, talented John Cena. Don’t just take my word for it. It has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 93% and an IMDb score of 8.3. It’s worth the watch, if only for the soundtrack made up of great “80s hair-bands” music.
I could binge this show 5xs after the entire 1st season comes out. Do you really want to taste it??

By far one of the BEST TV series based on DC comics! John Cena is a bloody larrikan and funny as F###.Great storyline, cast, and brilliant characters. Vigilante is a bloody rippa! And the intro…I agree with BORAES…Im definitely learning that dance!
