Kind of reminds me of SCUD, the old comic the makers of Rick and Morty did.
Having read all the books and liking them, with exception of book 7 which I thought rushed and not up to par, I could not help but compare the show to the books. The pilot drastically alters and waters down all that happened to the robot and only leaves his sarcasm and his job with the quirky humans. The script cleverly left out what he was created for, by who, and why his free will is so important. I suppose it might offend viewers to see government and big business in a negative light. The show has lost too much for me to want to watch, but i see it has grown a following. Anyone here who did not read the books, and wants to, ‘The murderbot diaries” by Martha Wells
The show is interesting but hate the 22 minute format.
First two episodes are pretty good! I know nothing about the source material so I don’t know how closely it will follow the books.
Books are good, and short, and controversially expensive due to that. There’s a lot of dry humor, and so far the show is doing a decent job of that, as well as portraying the Space Soap Opera that he is fascinated with. The story gets a bit more intensive after Ep2, they’re still world-building at this point.
At this pace, they are basically doing a season per book, which explains the short episodes. Probably better off waiting for them to release all and then binge them. Reserving my final rating until season end, to see how they handle it. After 2 episodes, 4/5 so far.
FYI: The Murderbot Series By Martha Wells has alot more material, so I hope it’s renewed.
All Systems Red (2017) (Season 1)
Artificial Condition (2018)
Rogue Protocol (2018)
Exit Strategy (2018)
Network Effect (2020)
Fugitive Telemetry (2021)
System Collapse (2023)
If you don’t want to wait 6 years for all of them to be produced, you can read them almost as fast as watching the series. Five of the books are novellas and two are around 300+ pages.
PS - Interesting side note, Martha Wells considers herself to be neurodivergent.
nerddddddddddddddd!
books are good…show looks good as well
Great ! can’t wait too see Season 2!
How many others are drawn to this because of how much the character of Sookie Stackhouse built up the character of Eric Northman (like a Norse God figure) in “True Blood?”
I know I got drawn into the wake of many actors and actresses through that show. (ie: Rutina in TLOU)
Feels like I’ve been waiting for this. (To bad I’m saving it to watch with someone else, hehe)
~ then again, was it how Sookie “saw” Eric, or how he did his impression of the Energizer Bunny…? har-har (wish I had that endurance)
Mmmm, Sookie. Her name shoulda been Stackchest. I see why they changed the name from True Por…Blood.
Never intentionally watched true blood but my wife enjoyed the soap opera. He was great in Generation Kill though.
Thx, I’ll check that out (and I don’t need to wait for movie-night)….
(downed all 7 eps from another site and couldn’t understand the ~2.2G file sizes, ‘til I saw the bit rate was way higher than usual)
Thx again!
Speaking from experience, GK was the most realistic jarhead portrayal since Full Metal Jacket. I’ve requested links here, but available on other sites as you’ve discovered.
There will be a season 2 but I’ve yet to watch season 1.
If your not getting all the Alexander Skarsgård you want then try.

terrible actor. he did no make this series…writers and directors did
NOt read the books. But this show is bland with non likeable charcters. The short format is also annoying as next to nothing happens in each episode. The content of the 8 episodes could have fit into 3. Filler show for me nothing more.
