I was so excited for this movie. We’ve been waiting so long for this, sad thing is it was really awful. The story was silly(even for a comic book movie), the script was cheesy, and the CGI was terrible. The actors did what they could but they couldn’t save the movie from bad writing/directing. Wonder Woman went from one of the best things about the DCEU to one of the worst.
Not even close to being awful. Was it as good as the first one? Nope. But it was still a really good movie. And the cameo in the end credits, made the whole movie worth it.
I agree. I wouldn’t call it awful but not as good as it should have and could have been. Better scriptingm, directing and acting by supporting actors would have made this incredible. People flocked to movie theatres bc something they’ve missed since March. Hopefully next one will be better
Truth, it didn’t totally suck like a lot of people said. I made a comment that it wasn’t totally bad, but could have been better, but was glad I watched it here, rather then spent $ in some place, might have been unhappy with that. Really expected more, after all the hype I think was what it was, but then again, it was not really all that bad as people are making out.
Well, it’s not like DCEU started from very high so I guess the fact their standards have raised a bit with movies like Joker… well with Joker, period, isn’t helping the rest of the mess like the Harley Quinn movie passing for Birds of Prey. Wonder Woman 1984 is just in the same vein. Cheesy, no plot, failed humor, Hallmark level sentiment.
Didn’t help that the movie was written by a guy who wrote for Titans, Arrow and numerous other DC tv crap.
What’s wrong with Titans? That’s actually one of the better ones. Truth, it has some flaws, and there are some things they have changed that I really think they never should have changed, but it has turned out to be a bit interesting,and it’s starting to go someplace, and thinking the next season might be pretty good. Pretty much agree with you on the rest of it though, but I do like it when Harley gets going with the ball bat. I call it her ‘Bat-Kata’ thing. Kinda awesome to watch. Might be a lot of flaws with the whole thing otherwise, but the chick that plays Harley does do a good job of it.
Couldn’t have said it better. Let’s hope they won’t do the same thing to Aquaman 2.
Appreciate the warning. Got happy when I saw this was up here, couple of us are getting together today to get our grub on and watch a few movies, and we were hoping this would be here. Still early morning where I’m at, so maybe by the time we are all in one room they will have better links up.
Even director Patty Jenkins said Lord IS Trump. That was her whole intent. To me, that ruined the movie. Should have been a Cold War story with a Reagan-esque President. Instead we got 2020 politics in a 1984 setting.

Despite what people here try to tell you, he’s primarily based on Bernie Madoff. If you don’t know who that was, we can see why you’d be inclined to think it was Trump. Grifters and con men, all share similar traits.
Jenkins herself said he was based on Trump.
What Jenkins said:
“[Donald Trump is] one of [the inspirations],” Jenkins explains, although she stressed that it is not meant to be a political statement. “The funny thing is like, he is [an influence], but I’m not trying to make [a point]. Even we have the president in this movie, and I’ve gone out of my way not to make it look like Ronald Reagan. I don’t want to get political. It’s not about political. Actually, a huge influence of this movie was also Madoff. And so what I was looking at was, those young Madoff story [sic] fascinates me, because I’m like, ‘How do you end up being Bernie Madoff?’”
I’ll take huge influence over “one of” , and as we saw on screen, it certainly fit her statement.
Whatever the primary influence, the movie—in my view—sucked big time. Especially compared to the first film, which was excellent in action and story telling.
Comparing Lord to Trump is interesting for Trump’s political critics…but at the time this is portrayed in the movie, Trump was a card carrying Democrat. He was being given the Eillis Island aware by NYC alongside Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali for his championing of Minority Causes. If Lord is suppose to be Trump, then he’s the Democratic-supporting Trump of the 1980’s….the Trump that Democrats at the time loved and awarded.
Well, he does feel like a caricature of a villain so that’s exactly how he is like Trump.

So the start was Great! Then it became disjointed after the first hour. It became a Hallmark movie and a bad one at that. VERY sad because I really enjoyed the first movie.
I’m in agreement with most comments here that this was disappointing. It’s fun to watch but too many flaws. First off it’s way too long without enough action to balance out the romantic parts with Steve. Anyone else annoyed how he was brought back and that Diana was ok uprooting some random guy from his life? Also no way he would’ve been able to fly that jet. Cheetah was a joke, her whole transformation was being able to walk in heels because she could not pull off the sexy evil personality that Michelle Pfiefer did with Catwoman and the fully CGI’d cat was bad with only a few minutes of screentime. Max Lord was also a joke and you can’t tell me that he wasn’t based on Trump which he wasn’t like in the comics. What really killed it was that ridiculous ending, just so stupid and leaves so many plot holes.
Wow huge dissapointment that was!!!! Cheesy acting and storyline the action scenes were lam!!! The Cheeetah “fight” lasts about 2 mins near the end and sucks!!!! Than everything is fixed with the superpower of postive thinking yuck i was a fan of the 1st movie but this sucked!!!!1/5
Agree. This was so very lame compared to the 1st W W movie. I did however get a good laugh at the extreme cheesiness of the “flying through the air with the greatest of ease” part. Dare Devil would have been bummed.

Did you all watch through the closing credits? If not, you missed a special guest appearance by someone! The guest appearance isn’t at the beginning of the credits but about half way through the closing credits. It sometimes pays to watch the credits.
I do agree that is was a bit cheesy and I didn’t care for the Maxwell Lord character at all. It seemed that a lot of movies in the 80’s were a bit cheesy but I don’t think the director of this movie had that in mind when she set out to direct this movie. Special affects and cgi were spot on and who doesn’t like looking at Chris Pine!

This movie was a let down compared to the first film. Although the ending to the first movie was unfortunate.
For this movie there was a lot of things that i liked but mostly disliked. For one i loved how they showed Steve, just enthralled into the 80’s. Anything and everything was exciting to him and it felt genuine. Diane who at this point has went 70 years without Steve and still feels like she lost him the day before. I understand loss but 70 years of it was to much time to has stayed motionless on someone she barely knew to begin with.
The two main problems were the bad guys. Maxwell was an interesting character and i understand his goal of using the crystal but then he just went way over the top and i still don’t understand the reasoning for it. Like why not just wish for oil in his reserves and then just go on to be rich? There really wasn’t a need for the over the top ‘villainy’ vibe to be honest. As for Kristen Wigs character… like why was she in it? She had no part in this film to have made sense. She’s WW’s arch villain and she just gets reduced to corky, shy girl who gets a chance to be cool and sexy but then decides to just go full cheetah and then only gets 2 mins of screen time?
Then there were two things that stood out to me that just didn’t make any sense. First off why did she need the gold suit of armor? In the trailer it made it seem like she was gonna go up against something big that would require it right? But she doesn’t.. She refunds her wish and gets her powers back but at that point she doesn’t know Barbara’s character received more power from Maxwell so there was no reason to get it other then to look cool?.. it seems like there should have been more to it then just being fancy.
And then there was the final scene with Maxwell when Diane had the lasso on his foot.. Like how? That kind of thing just throws you from the film entirely and makes you cringe at it like hard.. Like why not show her throw the lasso one last time, wrapping it on his foot and then start the dialogue?? He doesn’t know its power, he has no clue what it does so why not use it as a way to get him to see she’s ‘weak’ and then boast about his power? That would work out the same way that doesn’t involve ‘ex-machina-lasso’..
If you liked this movie, awesome. Im not here to shit on the film and make it out to be a horrible thing. Im just sad it wasn’t as big as the first film.
Also i went into this movie a little tilted only because they retconned her story from BvS… Like you can’t say she backed away from humanity for 100 years and then expect everyone she saves to keep her secret…………………. barf
Perhaps it’s nostalgia, but I enjoyed this one much more than the first. That’s not saying that it is technically “better” than the first, just that it entertained me personally more. They captured the cheesiness of the 80’s perfectly and on multiple levels. I’ll certainly re-watch this one far more than I did the original.
Grew up reading DC and this movie brought back all those feelings I had for those old comics.

I liked this movie 7/10. Only thing I didnt like is they changed Lords backstory to much and he just was nowhere near the threat he in in the comics. Still I liked the movie and since Cheetah never took back her wish she could still have her powers for a Justice League or another Wonder Woman movie

Glad this was released and grateful to have it available to watch, but not sure what I think about the movie. The acting was good, writing ok and story line meh. Best part was the ending that brought me back to my childhood days of watching WW TV series. Worth a watch, but don’t expect the same reaction as you might have had with the first movie.
Unpopular opinion: This is the best WW movie to date.
I ain’t mad at it though it was not what I envisioned. I applaud Patty Jenkins and whoever she collaborated with to put this together. They took a chance and I am sure they had to know that. It didn’t just go there with a 84 vibe visually but they took it back with the overall style of the film,very original Superman like, but watching that now, though its a classic, it doesn’t seem like something the kids would be into that to much, so they took a big risk. I hope it pays off but I have to admit I was a bit underwhelmed. I have seen a lot of reviews and it looks split down the middle which makes sense. As a dude where the film missed for me I think it may have shined for others which ultimately just makes it not a film for me but that is kind of the point of diversity and hiring female talent and directors and black talent and directors, etc. Everything is not going to be for everyone and ain’t nothing wrong with that. 3 of 5 for me.

Ever since you said that, I’ve been watching to see when we would get a copy, and nothing has been posted yet. Really surprised by that. we mostly get something right away. Checked as soon as I saw your post, and it is indeed in the movie places in Maine, couple anyway. Have not gone in years myself, but glad to see a few are open. With any luck might be sometime today we will have a link, really wanting to see this one.

Honestly this isn’t a bad film but it’s not as good as the first film was tho in my opinion.
Basically as bad as the first one, except with massive cheese on top.
Hardly surprising really, considering what they started with. How would transposing it to the 80ies make anything that was bad in the first movie better?

What a horrible Super Hero movie, it didn’t feel like one at all. More like some romcom without the comedy. Very boring and felt like it dragged on in parts. Gals acting was terrible, they could have replaced her with a shoebox for the same effect. since when has WW been able to float about and fly! i mean like WTAF 3/10 from me max, even the wife hated it. she was bored and started to colour in lol
The acting was dry, some moments came out of no where especially around the 45 minute mark. The jokes didn’t land and the CG was sub par. Kristen Wiig was the only decent part. I’d recommend just watching the first one again or the animated one if you want to watch a good Wonder Woman movie or watch Captain Marvel if you just want to watch a decent female super hero movie. 4/10. Maybe Covid messed with everyone’s heads from the writer, the director, the actors, hell even the honey wagon driver. I don’t ever review movies or tv shows so you can probably tell I’m disappointed by this one.
If you need anymore proof who is better, DC or Marvel. Just compare the ‘car chase’ scene from this and Civil War.

fighter jets f16 for example have ranges of about 500 miles (these were f14 or f 15 older planes yet washington dc to cairo is 5000 miles here did they get fuel from ? another thing that is bugging me alot from the movie -more lazy /sloppy storytelling

Not currently I think. There have been Oscar winning documentaries that then won Emmy awards after being broadcast, but you can’t be nominated for an Emmy after being nominated for an Oscar anymore.

Well, could have been better, could have been worse, guess it was worth watching here, can’t say it was a waste of time, was entertained by it well enough, but would have been mildly annoyed if I went out of my way to go someplace to see it and paid $10.00 or more. Guess that about sums it up for me anyway.
This film was awful in everyway !!! Gal Gadot is stunning as always but this film was soooo bad it was comical . Gushie nonsense with a terrible script and very very bad acting I can only assume was down to the fact the actors knew how bad this is . cheesy nonsense that I almost switched off , at one point I thought it was a send up of the WW franchise . The first WW was a great movie , she was great in Justice league and batman v superman but this steaming pile of nasty crap is 2 1/2 hours to long , AVOID !!!!

Made for kids….
I have to say overall it’s entertaining considering the few movies that have been released since COVID sprung up. I’m in love with superhero films but this one was overall disappointing. I feel asleep halfway through. I wouldn’t of been pissed paying $15 at the movies for it so since it was free…I lost nothing but time. The after-credit screen was priceless but wish there was more of it through the movie. The film started well but started to nosedive when she met up with the love of her life.
A few things that bugged me:

This script clearly needed some serious rewrites. Pine, Wiig and Pascal give phenomenal performances with the little character developement given to them, which makes Gal Gadots wooden acting even more obvious. Overall, a pretty weak follow-up the great first movie.
Great movie!! Don’t let these Marvel-only people tell you anything different. You do not have to choose between Marvel/DC,it’s not against the law to like them both!!

Weak plot, worst ending possible. I like the cast. That was all I liked. Ending was so corny didn’t even get to the credits before turning it off. The first one was good. This one is cringy. What a let down.

Unfortunately, that is no longer happening. Wonder Woman 1984 had an initial release date of June 1, which was pushed back to August 14, and most recently to Oct 2nd.
The Wonder Woman 1984 release date may be delayed yet again as star Gal Gadot has just revealed that it’s under constant evaluation. “Every two weeks we discuss the topic of a potential new release date depending on the situation surrounding the coronavirus.”
She emphasized that Wonder Woman 1984 can wait and will be released when things are safe.
Meanwhile, an unnamed Disney film analyst confirmed the notion that the WW84 release date could be delayed yet again. “Movie theaters could be shut down well into next year which would mean no new movie releases for 2020 through mid-2021. California recently closed its movie theaters again and theaters have yet to open in New York.”
ah yes Oct 2 would be the usa date .. Aug 13 still appears to be the Oz date .. I expect it will be available on PW around then

WOW…..I really never thought they could ruin something like Wonder Woman Lol Two and a half hours of build up for the worst “Mister Roger’s neighborhood” ending I’ve ever seen!! And I enjoyed Mr. Rogers haha So they made up a villain that isn’t a villain and then showed Cheetah’s creation and demise? How does that makes sense haha If your a 12 yr old who doesn’t understand the way the world works, you’ll love this!!! Everybody else….well good luck Lol
