Always sounds like a good premise with Shyamalan’s movies but in execution, it always seems to fail.
Nope. Stop trying to make stories more interesting than they already are. If this film had ended the the way the graphic novel did, it would’ve been brilliant. But that whole other business was just weak. Write your own screenplays or respect the original material. There, I said it.
I actually thought this movie was very good. I saw it at the theater with my boyfriend and we actually found it to be very enjoyable. We never read the graphic novel, so neither of us knew what to expect.
Such a good premise and yet M. Night spoils the twist very early in the movie. We know the reason why these people were at beach and just have to watch as they devolve for an hour and a half later. It does have some gnarly scenes and I like the message it gives with the family at end. It was an interesting watch, but needed to hold cards closer to the chest next time for a better surprise.
M. Shyamalan has done it again in my opinion. Made the ordinary into not so ordinary. Enjoy….
I liked it, had me on edge couple times. Although I called it early in the movie, it still keeps you guessing and it was still fun watching it all unravel. Scary to think of! This version has a pretty long out of focus part towards the end but you know what’s happening during that time so you don’t really miss much, you just can’t see it. Don’t panic though it refocuses after a good min or so. I seriously thought I had gotten all the way to the end and it was going to stay out of focus, nope you get to finish it. Happy Watching! disappointing. Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone did it better in 30 mins, 50 years ago.
What particular episode are you referring to in regards to the Twilight Zone? I have seen every episode & I don’t remember any episode like this movie.

Interesting…considering the novel the movie is based on was only published in 2010! I guess Twilight Zone pulled the novel out of the future 50 years ago? lol
Amazed of how bad this move is.
Could’ve been good, wasn’t though. For me, nothing about it nor any one actor stood out. Felt like the filmmakers went to a small resort, recruited a few tourists, took them to a lovely beach and told them to start acting.

Very disappointed such a good premise wasted, with terrible writing, awkward acting and dreadful pacing. M. Night Shyamalan movies are usually great or awful unfortunately this one is in the awful category. 1/5

So, just watched the movie ‘Old’ by M. Night Shyamalan. The movie has very intriguing ideas but I must say the execution of the film, and the acting, left MUCH to be desired.
Again, the entire idea of the movie is great but i do NOT recommend wasting your time on this movie. You will find yourself consistently bored and frustrated with this film, imo.
I was not disappointed. It was clever, it was Shyamalanesque. The execution was average, pity. And as a mum of two with the same age without elaborating any hidden secret or messages (which are too obvious, not gonna spoil it for you, don’t worry), just from clearly what I saw, it was a true horror.
Can’t wait to watch this!!!!!!!!!!!! Blumhouse and M. Night Shyamlan are a top fav for me.

Was a pretty good movie. Did a good job explaining why some people just go missing and how the government always hide things in the blue print. Nothing in life is FREE!

Do not waste your time watching this horrible cam by sLoTlIgHtes, they suck and so does this copy. Wait for a better version so you dont spoil it for yourself like I did. At just about over half way through I was enjoying it and then it went blurry and stayed blurry for way too long, pretty much for the remainder and in parts that Im sure wouldve been cool to see. Really thankful for this site but just wish whoever makes these cams did a better job.

Yeah, I liked it too. Getting sucked up into hype and expectations ruin so many otherwise fine movies for ppl— even before they watch them. Kinda like when we were kids and xmas eve was almost always more magical and fun than xmas day. IMO your 7/10 is about right.

The acting is so bad it seems like it’s dubbed and the translation of the english is wayyy off, but that’s not the case..the people are just acting as if they’re robots reading from a script.

It actually wasn’t bad! As usual with M. Night, there was something missing, but honestly this time I couldn’t tell you what. Good enough for a one-time watch, possibly even more!

thank you… someone said it was awkward acting…the kids are suppose to be awkward if that’s what they were referring to. Yeah it wasn’t his best movie but it wasn’t horrible , it was entertaining enough. i guessed it but not how it would unfold. I swear people only accept the very best or its no good at all.

oh cool good to know because you never know what your going to get with M. Night Shyamalan! When I first saw “The Village”, I hated it (I can appreciate it now) but I loved the “Unbreakable” trilogy! Complete and total shock when “Split” came out! He’s good at true unforeseen twists that knock you off your feet! So I’m always curious to see what he’s come up with!

This movie is ridiculous, and I am not talking about the plot, but the execution. Were these characters meant to be like this, because they seem to be everything but the real people.
I don’t mind the ending, probably because I just don’t care about the story.
