A worthy successor to the original Candyman and brings new life to his mythos. Jordan Peele has done it again reinventing black horror movies. I like how they used the mirror reflections throughout, but my only critique which would’ve took film over the top was showing more gore. Other than that this was a great story to bring back Candyman to the mainstream.
Sadly nowadays there’s either NO GORE!!! Like in Old or there’s so much it kinda takes away from the movie, I’m not surprised they dumbed it down :( I was gonna skip this because I was sure they ruined Candyman but I’ll give it a try after your comment. Thanks man!!
Jordan Peele only produced this one
As spooky as the original & true to the legend 5/5
Yaaaa see, just the review I was looking for. I’ll def watch but not right before bed or at night…Orig def freaked me out and the thought of it, tries to do the same. That says alot since only the original Friday 13th (& original Candyman) had and has me scared in all my 40+ years. No other movies can get that random credit from me
Candyman Will be In Theaters on Friday, Aug. 27th, 2021.
This movie was excellent. Great pacing. Excellent way to grow and continue the franchise. Did right by the original. Wasn’t’ extra, told a story, great blend of real and urban legend.
Well it’s a modern Candyman, that’s about it haha Barely any gore, the legend stays true kinda. The saddest part is this is as close to a “Good Candyman” as we can get in 2021, if you liked the original then give this a try. It’s definitely worth a 1 time watch, that’s it!! I think a 3/5 is being generous
So nice I got to watch it twice ! 10 out of 10
This going to stay with me for awhile, just like the first one did when I was a kid.
i thought there were 4 movies in this series, (counting this one) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candyman_(film_series)
There are though 2 of them were straight to video
there were some good moments of horror, the Candyman is creepy and violent. but all in all this is just a piece of blatant propaganda.
filled with unlikeable characters and focused around the art world, the pseudo intellectual dialogue is so cringe and on the nose that I felt embarrassed watching at some points.
A typical Hollywood remake/reboot /sequel/whatever the hell from the current year.
stick with the original
2/5
I mean it’s decent but doesn’t compare to the original. Definitely better than farewell to the flesh. 2/5
Candyman Candyman Candyman Candyman Candyman
So I have watched this movie a second time now, trying to give it a chance. Not the best to me. It was way to slow for a Candyman movie. Not enough emotion when it came to the story of what/who Candyman was. I was very hopeful for this movie. Sadly I was let down. If you have a fan of the original, I am not sure you will like this one. As a stand alone movie, maybe.
A complete snooze fest 1/5
bad movie 1/5
This just didnt hold up to the original. I really wanted this to be good :(
This was an absolute disgrace to the original CANDYMAN 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Wow. that… wasn’t very good lol. Not scary. Not interesting either. They should have gone more in-depth with the main character’s progression. I think they were trying to carry a message, but i’m honestly not sure what the message is.
If you follow the story closely, you will find that it is a sequel to the original, not a remake.
I thought this movie was excellent! Loved it! 5/5
