the comments on here remind me of grade school insults and criticisms of certain groups of people if one doesnt have the same view there are people who resort to name calling, rather juvenile imo

Ah, gotcha! 😉 I will edit that bit out, but I stand by the remainder. It’s just so inappropriately angry and aggressive, and fails on every level to acknowledge that abuse actually exists.

You don’t sound toxic at all. You sound like you did everything right. I reckon your son was lucky to have a Dad like you. But this show Curfew, and the discussion here is about misogyny aka toxic masculinity, and the consequences thereof.

My husband was a good man too, worth his weight in gold, and he liked my cooking so lots of gold there lols ;) I count myself a lucky woman to have married the finest man I ever met. Sadly, not many can say the same. Populism seems to have made them even more rare. I just wish males, in a time of populism would not be susceptible to fraudulent “strong men” selling snake oil and realize they have the strength within themselves and don’t need to buy a cheap fraud’s knockoff. This is my global wish.

The main story just seems to be pointless suffering. So a couple eps ago that lady fell out the lighthouse then winds up on a road in the “real world”. Does that prove that death there is not a real death but a way to go to the other side? Then she winds up there again with Victor’s dad? Looking forward to his reunion with Victor.

Grasshopper I agree with your comments about the series. But the series itself turned me off not 20 minutes in when the point was posited that men commit crimes against women for sex aka desire. It’s about power and the need to overpower, through sexual abuse. I did watch the full episode but I found the dialogue inaccurate and a bit soft so not sure if I will return to it.

I’m probably a lot older than most of you and I just find this whole discussion sad. I remember a time when men and women’s traditional roles complemented and supported each other. Things were not perfect back then, but the vestural hate that seems to monopolize the internet today surely is not helping matters.
I know young people seem to think they know all the answers but, maybe it’s time for them to reflect on their grandparents and great grandparent’s generations way of doing things. You might just find they knew more than you believe. - Hanoverfist

Curfew (2024)

Interesting, but not accurate. Most victims/survivors of abuse blame themselves. That’s the largest reason behind not reporting or waiting a very long time to do so.

Here I am to properly get people mad at me.
It’s not a good argument to use statistics and percentages to prove a point. Most things are not reported by men or women so the numbers are just not complete. It might be easier to prove that men are more aggressive but that doesn’t mean it’s true.
At the end of the day, people are good and evil and it doesn’t matter if you are a guy or a girl. Women are abused, men are abused. That is a fact and if we choose to hate each other instead of coming together to find better solutions then we will keep going in circles and not getting anywhere.
I will leave you with one question.
Do you think we have made any great amount of progress in stopping abuse for anyone in the last 50 years? Or have we just been blaming each other and getting no where?

You prove my point by immediately jumping to insults ,
When modern women stop behaving as spoiled, narcissistic, unkept beasts, believing they are entitled to men’s resources, take responsibility, & accountability for their own actions, & behavior, & have something of value (besides the ability to give birth) with which to offer real men in exchange for a loving, respectful companionship, perhaps then,
men may return to their roles as head of household, providers, & protectors.
Until then, you are on your own, & deserve nothing, except that which you, yourself have not earned alone by your own measure of merit.

As I was watching the 1st scene, I kept thinking I’ve seen her in something. Yvonne Strahovski was in the series Chuck and she has been in many tv series and movies since Chuck was canceled in 2012. And of course we know Kathy Baker an good to see that she is still awesome at her craft!

When weak minded males stop seeking “strong men” who behave like spoiled, narcissistic, unkept beasts, believing they are entitled to everything, never take responsibility, & accountability for their own actions, & behavior, then maybe their situations will improve. Until then, things will go rough for them. Because no one wants to be around that negativity, not man or woman
nor dog or cat. Cause no one wants to be around that type of guy. They will end up on their own, deserving nothing while regaling their incel buddies with tales about their made up girlfriend
 from Canada
of course. We’ve heard it all before for almost a decade now. It’s time to move on and not wallow in backward twisted history. It is what it is.

Everyone loves a real man. I know I do. They are worth their weight in gold and just as rare to find. But the sort of guy these fake “strong men” are pumping out ain’t it. Not even close.

demi-more looked amazing in this I was honestly surprised and it was really fitting as a role

magically_delicious 2 points 1 month ago*.

I totally agree it’s a fitting role for Demi. It’s a truly ironic observation on her “beauty” since Demi has had so much plastic surgery she was virtually unrecognisable until she got additional surgery to look a bit “Moore” like her true self. My remark is not a criticism of you; it’s ironic, and I think that she got the role because of that. She was/is the perfect candidate to express the push that the world forces on women to look young at any cost. She was beautiful as she was, before all the surgeries.

This movie has gotten such a bad wrap. Yeah, it isn’t the game reborn on screen. But it was a damn fun watch. No clue what’s going on with the genre tags on this one, but this is a John Wick one-off that premieres June 7, 2024. Starring Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, and Lance Reddick, it’s based on a character that made a brief appearance in Wick 3. teaser
