I really dislike how everyone treats him, I get it, he is supposed to be the anti hero of sorts, but he really is and always was on the right side of the things redardless of wether it was benefit to him or not.

Stargate SG-1 (1997) S8 E13
koolosse 5 points 15 days ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Ex-Colonel Harold “Harry” Maybourne, aka King Arkhan I, was the initial ringleader of the rogue NID operation. Eventually SG-1 finds evidence incriminating him for treason; he defects to the Russians and helps them set up their own abortive Stargate Program. And, he was exposed for running the off-world NID theft ring.
It does appear that Maybourne was never truly loyal to anyone. Arrogant (thinking very highly of himself, his abilities and his weak moral compass) and self-serving, he was more about looking out for number one. I for one, like Sam (okay so I’ve got a crush on her), have little time and patience for such people.
It took him ages to grow up and eventually redeem himself. That said, he was quite an entertaining bad guy character and a good foil for Jack and in my opinion, Tom McBeath was very well cast, playing the role of Maybourne in a most convincing way.

If you dig stuff like Amazon Women On The Moon, The Kentucky Fried Movie, Movie 43, Tunnel Vision, TV The Movie, Dead Pixels or any of the Firesign Theatre stuff, then this is fun. Among many, it also has Victoria Medlin who was in the original 1971 car movie Vanishing Point.

She was daughter of director-writer Barry Levinson, who did stuff like ..And Justice For All, Diner, Avalon, Wag The Dog, Good Morning Vietnam, Rain Man & wrote for Mel Brooks. But after boyfriend Paul Stanley of KISS broke up with her in 1978, she was found dead of apparent suicide. One can only speculate why she did what she did. Afterward he was involved with Cher’s little sis Georganne LaPiere, then Dan Akroyd’s future wife Donna Dixon, etc. He included a dedication to her in his 1st solo album.

It is said there are two versions of her death: That she was found dead with pills and another that she shot herself in Paul’s dad’s antique shop. It is also speculated that Erika Shulmann, who worked for him on tour, is his daughter via Vickie in 1972 after she made Vanishing Point. She was also a singer-songwriter, appearing in productions of Hair & composing jingles for tv, which Paul also did. It’s also said that Erika isn’t Vickie’s daughter, but Paul’s sister Julia’s- however Julia is homosexual & doesn’t like her brother at all. Erika was raised in Paul’s parents home & he paid for her private school & spent his time with her when not touring- and she probably is very likely Paul’s niece & not his daughter via the late Victoria Medlin, even though there’s plenty of coincidences.

Smile 2 (2024)

The acting and cinematography were top notch. Story development and conclusion was a little flat for me. The focus was obviously on shock value and CGI, not on delivering a strong storyline. Also, it should be called Voss Water and not Smile 2 lol

Caught me off guard for real!
A nice lil throwback to 80s classics. Great Practical FX with creatures, blood and gore!
A mix of Candyman/Nightmare on Elm ST/Stephen King’s IT/5 nights at Freddys(The video game lore, not the shitty movie)/And even Videodrome
Even with a no name cast it’s a refreshing take; compared to all the oversaturated horror with pg-13 bullshit blumhouse movies Hollywood keeps pumpin out
7.5/10

The Count of Monte-Cristo (2024)
GeminiSaga 1 points 15 days ago*.

It’s different but both are good in my opinion. The Hollywood version focused on the relationship with Jacopo. In this version the focus is on Monte Cristo’s relationships with his slave Haydee whose father was killed by his rival, and with Andrea who is the abandoned son of the prosecutor who imprisoned him.

I feel like scenes in this series were drawn out way too long for no payday. Even first half of the season finale was like this!! Not sure if I’m getting less patient or if Ryan Murphy and Team are getting more indulgent in the drama aspect, and forgetting the horror

mjjones1986 1 points 15 days ago.

Ryan Murphy sucks and should stick to musicals like glee. Every horror show doesn’t need obligatory male gay ish in it

i did not expect this to go into addressing mens rights activism themes, in hindsight maybe i could hear whispers of a trajectory, strong women, extreme sexist violence through her dreams, the caesareans and the pregnancy/ milk machines, the priests behaviours obviously, but just didnt expect it to be included in the framing trajectory. But also very appropriate, on this eve of election results, fiction mirroring reality mirroring fiction etc. but then with this foreboding and prophesying, and her denial of it, and the gaslighting, all very telling, telling of approach and internal and interpersonal processes. her denying reality is real because it is so surreal, the misogyny, the femicides, heads of state calling women second class citizens, and the horrible irony that her hell and her reality are both like this and that this hell and our reality are like this

Made for tv movie. In the beginning it is difficult to read the subs because the actors are speaking fast. Other than that, it is an okay film. Cat lovers might like it as there is a cat in most of the scenes. It ends with a cliffhanger, so I assume they are doing a sequel.

Stargate SG-1 (1997) S8 E13
Twixtid 2 points 15 days ago*.

Side note, Sam has no bloody right to treat him the way she does in this episode, Jack is the only person who has the right to treat him that way cause he did it from the beginning, she’s just following Jack’s lead as she does on everything, she doesn’t actually have a good reason to demean or ridicule him this way. I get that its a show, just sayin, back off Sam.

Snuff: Diary of a Serial Killer (2016)
Danfis 0 points 15 days ago.

The meanest and craziest movie you may ever see. John Reign gives a stellar performance as a crazed and maniacal killer. Both obnoxious and grating on your nerves, you will ether HATE or LOVE this genuinely original performance. Ned has problems. His house may be haunted and he may just be possessed. This paranormal activity leads to a bloodbath and a trail of dead bodies. Pray for the young women because Ned is coming.

September 5
Piglet -1 points 16 days ago*.

I remember this and watched it unfold on tv and even though I was in Junior high, it was something I thought could never happen. September 5 is a 2024 historical drama film about the 1972 Munich Olympic hostage crisis. The film is told from the perspective of the ABC Sports crew and their coverage of the events. It will hit the big screens on November 27th. Not sure if I want to watch it since I watched happen in real time. The only 2 actors I recognize is Peter Sarsgaard and Ben Chaplin.

No release date yet, but Dave Annable has joined the cast. If you watched Brothers and Sisters, you would recognize him or maybe from Yellowstone (in just 1 or 2 episodes in the 1st season) and Special Ops: Lioness. Inspired by true events, the 8-episode series dives into the flawed Buckley family, led by McCallany’s Harlan Buckley (Holt McCallany) and Mae Buckley (Maria Bello), as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.
