One year after the violent eruption of the subglacial volcano Katla, the peace and tranquility in the small town of Vik is dramatically disturbed. As people evacuate the area, the ice near the volcano starts to melt. The few remaining people manage to provide necessary community service. But despite its grand location, the area turns out to be somewhat apocalyptic — mysterious elements that have been deeply frozen into the glacier from prehistoric times start to emerge from the melting ice and cause consequences no one could have ever foreseen. |

This is about perfect - so much great stuff to chew on. The characters are fascinating to begin with and you learn so much more about them as they react to the strangeness of what’s going on. Have to watch it over again to make sure I got everything. Looks like there might be a Season 2.
I enjoyed watching season 1. I don’t know if there will be another season. It looked like all of the interpersonal conflicts were resolved or had moved on in the direction of growth. I know the ending showed more people coming out of Katla, but, how many people have THAT MANY conflicts holding them back?
Definitely a slow burner, lots a time ta mull over what’s going on, think waaay outside the box and you will already have some idea of what’s going on as all is revealed.
I just start to watch the first season! So after the first episode, it seems that it is a remake of the French series “Les revenants” (The returned). Hope it is not just another copy/paste!!
Its definitely NOT. Keep watching. There are plenty of other shows which are based on that series though. The Returned, Resurrection, and Glitch being just a few examples.
