A Fantasy-Drama, ‘The Hostage’ is the story of Frank, who meets his alter-ego and learns to fix himself, before he fixes others. On honing pride in everything that he has around him all his life, he now asks himself whether they mean anything at all! Frank Augustine,a man who has earned himself a big house, expensive cars, a wife and a son; who is the epitome of a “perfect and happy family man” by society standards, finds himself at his shrink’s office, where he realizes that he has not been happy after all. A strange series of questions raised by the Therapist digs deep into Frank’s Psyche who embarks a even mysterious journey, where he meets his alter-ego trapped inside his Reflection. He walks in the mystic hallways of the ‘Happiness store’, which is not outside, but in his mind to strip off his four superficial, self-made pretentious layers, or veils- “the herd”, “square peg in a round hole”, “Trophy Wall” and “lonely together”; to maybe get happiness in exchange. After the journey, whether he can go back to his not-so-content family, and free himself of being the hostage of his own- from his own clutches, is the debate.
