Host Ted Husing provides his slant on two sports. The first is boxing. He goes to a local gym to watch Tony Canzoneri, the world lightweight champion, spar against welterweight Teddy Martin in preparation for defense of his title. Canzoneri is an agile boxer, whose best weapon is his left jab to the face of his opponent. The second is pocket billiards, an elegant game of finesse which can be played in one’s own home as well as in billiards academies. Ralph Greenleaf, the world champion, shows the shots that made him world champion. He also shows some trick shots. Betty Cooper and Emily Wilson demonstrate by their fine ability that it is a sport enjoyed and mastered by both sexes. |
