Emmerich has to one-up himself for each of these disaster flicks. His next one will have to be a threat to the whole solar system, I suppose :)
As his disaster flicks always are, this one is just over-the-top with everything and stuffed full with action - popcorn munching and soda sipping fun!
Set you suspension of disbelief to 11, first, though.

No one does End of the World, Destruction of Earth Apocalypses like Roland Emmerich! I’ve always enjoyed seeing what creative ways he comes up with to destroy the planet…Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow, 2012..always entertaining. I expect no less from him with this one. I am pretty sure it’s going to be another epic cheesy bad/good one.
Played like a Disney movie in my opinion. It was well done with lots of extras to see. Humor injected in just the right places. I think we have this one rated right at 4/5 stars. Worth a watch!
Well, my headphones sure loved it. Lots of jaw-dropping effects and glorious sound adding spice to a formulaic-but-fun pseudo-science fantasy blockbuster. “Samwell Tarly” from GoT was wonderful in his role here; Berry and Wilson less so, but alright.
Speaking of GoT, I liked how (intentionally or not) the ‘megastructure’ in the story reminded me a lot of Thrones’s opening credits in a way. The rings, movement, etc. Overall a good disaster flick IMO; a sort of combo of The Abyss + The Day After Tomorrow + Independence Day. Fun to watch here at home and likely even better in a theatre.

I thought it was pretty good. A little bit of previous sci-fi plots cobbled together into something of a new twist. Strong performances by a great cast.

It was good for what it was. Could it have been better with a couple of different actors and a different director? yes, but entertaining nonetheless. I recommend a watch for a bored weekend and such!

A feel good Armageddon type movie. The Dyson sphere concept was a nice touch. Forget math, physics or reality and just enjoy it for what it is. 4/5

Don’t listen to the bad reviews on here and imdb. Sure, it’s no award winning movie but it’s not bad at all. Take it for what it is, a fun action packed disaster movie.
I would tune in to watch Halle Berry open mail. ( she’s awesome) And yes , Thanks ! what a great cam copy.

Well, it kind fits in with the theory that there was more to the moon landing than what we were told back in 1969. Yes, it is hard to believe but this is “fiction”. If you want believability, then don’t watch this type of movie.

i like the story of the Big Bang better. it makes more sense and accounts for more than human life on this planet while this movie only talks about seeding human DNA.
