Time Bandits is an unpredictable journey through time and space with a ragtag group of thieves and their newest recruit: an 11-year-old history buff named Kevin. This is my first post ever on this site, and is the show that’s got me to do it.
I’ve almost never been a fan of remakes because usually they trash the original source material in a way that doesn’t make it fresh, but rather a bad Xerox copy.
Between Time Bandits, Krull, Lady Hawk, Logan’s Run, and many other sci-fi shows of the campy 70’s, it’s where I developed my love of Syfy and fantasy shows. However when I saw the trailer to this show it gave me a little hope that for once they were possibly going to do a remake and do it justice without completely just rewriting the source material in bad ways to try to come up with some convoluted supposedly original way to do it and never does it justice. Obviously this show does not follow the original storyline completely but what they had done they have done extremely well. I hope this show does not get canceled anytime soon because it would be a serious disappointment It is that good.
A fun family favourite (1981). Along the same lines as other fantasy adventures like Baron Munchausen, Princess Bride and other whimsical tales. Written by Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. Starring John Cleese, Sean Connery, Shelly Duvall, Peter Vaughan, David Rappaport, Ian Holm, Jack Purvis, Malcolm Dixon, Kenny Baker, Michael Palin and so many more.

Apparently Terry Gilliam went to visit the set for a couple weeks and didn’t like anything Taika Waititi was doing, complaining about different things and left after 2 or 3 days visibly upset. Gonna be interesting to see how this turns out..

Yeah, NGL, I was worried he was going to do bad for this show too like he did Thor. I’m really glad that in my own opinion that he actually did a good job on the show.
Anything Taika touches he ruins which is evident with Thor… Now he is doing this cult classic. Won’t watch or support period… Even for free well the $22 I pay for internet and Business Proton VPN per month…

This should be good. I hope. I’ll have to watch the original again, to refresh my memory. I know I liked it back then. The original that is. John Cleese is one of the best British Comedians imo.

Taika is an acquired taste and I’VE GOT IT! I can’t wait! I know that every face I recognized in the trailer will bring “It.” It may be a grown-up version so difficult to compare with original (don’t think we should!), but here’s hoping it will entertain.
He’s brilliant: What We Do in the Shadows (2014) that then went on into a series, JoJo Rabbit, Reservation Dogs (TV series) (2019)… all writers and directors take chances and sometimes it doesn’t completely work out. He may just pull off the adult version of this reimagined classic and we can always love both.
beg to differ what we do in the shadows is the most godawfull tripe ever served up. jojo rabbit was good as is reservation dogs and love his work on our flag is death, but without terry gillams approval magic 8ball says outlook not good.
Errrmmmm Terry Gillam is an executive producer on this show which granted doesn’t mean much but they still do have to go to him in order to sign of on certain aspects of the production so there’s that at least.
Maybe…maybe not…we shall see.

Watched the 1st episode and I wasn’t disappointed! Loved it! Taika does it again, IMO. And Terry Gilliam can go take a long walk off a short pier, for all I care. Kudrow, working her shtick into Penelope, also works for me! So happy to see Jermaine on board. I’m all in!
