The Spanish Princess, the latest chapter in the dynastic saga of Tudor England, is a powerful, epic story that not only returns the audience to the world of royal court intrigue as seen uniquely through the perspective of the women, but also sheds light on a previously untold corner of history – the lives of people of color, living and working in 16th century London.

Interesting story and time period - looking at Tudor England through the Spanish delegation of Henry’s wife Catharine. If you’re a historical costume nerd this production is 10/10, overall 7/10.

Rollin 3 points 4 years ago.

Modern history is missing a conspiracy theory regarding the fact that no woman who ate from the royal kitchens had a successful pregnancy.

So called “witches” were expert herbalists. There’s plenty of plants that could cause pre-term labor and even sterilization.

Henry had a strapping son with a woman who never ate at his table.
Why has no one considered the war of the roses had small folk on the losing side who stayed in service?

I’m so happy to see this coming back on! I liked the 1st season better than I thought I would..looking forward to the 2nd.

Well acted with a nice cast. I enjoyed watching it.

Omg.. re writing history again

This is not a documentary but a TV series. If you want accuracy then read history books or watch a documentary. TV series and movies are about entertainment not about accuracy or the truth

sanbro5 5 points 4 years ago.

Agree. Gregory tells a good story but accuracy is not a strong point with her. I like the series but it is total fiction.

As a BA in history I understand the annoyance at embellishments, but come on, after a time you just have to drop that jazz. This is called “period drama” for a reason. If you want the true story told A to Z there are several documentaries available for you to scrutinize.

Pretty sure I said I like the series. Also if I want a true story I study and read books.

Where are the spoilers in this comment?

Mojoyable 2 points 4 years ago.

Lol Negan, probably someone thinking because they are talking about how accurate it portrays history it spoils it. Kinda like those people who give you shit for revealing the Titanic sunk before watching the movie…as if it’s not already a well known fact

SLEEPEYE 2 points 4 years ago.

lol like the movie invisible man where the twist is. he is a invisible man lol and people did’ent see that coming

Negan 1 points 4 years ago.

I got a several days ban for “spoiling” the ‘LA 92’ documentary. It was a real historical event; it couldn’t be spoiled!

Well for one I know the “Tudor” period is “American” history, and, most history prior to that is a shared history. Primarily because England was an outcast among the nation states and pirating Spanish gold from the colonies was a finite proposition. Leading to the formation of Virginia by Sir Walter Raleigh(you can thank him for tobacco too), who named it after Elizabeth 1 known as The Virgin Queen. As for “Brit” worship, LOL, France and Britain have been kissing American GI boots since 1918.

You haven’t even apologized for your last comment, which is the least I’d expect before taking anything you say seriously. Your nothing but toxicity and anger.

snazzydetritus 3 points 4 years ago.

Krl246, don’t pay that half-wit any attention whatsoever. His words and his opinions mean nothing to anyone.

well don’t you sound intellectual and important, what a lovely fella.

Rollin 0 points 4 years ago.

Wow…I’m guessing Russian….

Maybe you just need to stick to your kind and not watch American programs. No one will miss you.

This has great cover art however the name Spanish Princess just doesn’t interest me .Its hard for me to give new shows that aren’t scifi , comedy a chance .There is still a ton of shows I haven’t watched and this would not be on the list for some time (I still haven’t watched a lot of very popular shows ).With the name like Spanish princess I would assume the are trying to appeal to younger people.
