Winter has fallen on the South Pole. The sun will soon disappear for the next six months. A small team of scientists, known as the Winterers, will remain at the Polaris VI Antarctic Research Station to continue their innovative research. Their work is crucial in the fight against climate change and they are under the command of renowned biologist Arthur Wilde. But when spring comes, summer commander Johan Berg returns to the station only to find most of the team dead or missing. A killer is on the loose and Annika, Johan's wife, is missing too. If he wants to find her alive, he will have to trust Maggie, the young doctor who is profoundly shaken and apparently the sole survivor from the group… or, is there someone else who survived?

Overall this was a good watch. Intriguing build up to a good climax at the end, saw some of it coming but some parts had me surprised. So that was good.

Classic Agatha Christie whodunit. With more oomph in the writing and acting this could rise above - satisfying binge but not a two-fer. The last episode caught me off guard and that was fun :)

Wow! The quality of the writing for season 2 made an edge-of-your-seat nail-biter out of almost every episode! Would want to see it continued into a s3 but I can’t imagine them get it this right a 3rd time. You’ve got to watch this one if you enjoyed s1…you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Thank you! I had not heard of this before. Now I have something to watch that I think I will like, because I saw your comment.

Just sharing the wealth…Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays to you too.

They killed everyone, they’d have to do a complete reset to have a Season 3…

magically_delicious 6 points 4 years ago*. 3/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

Overall this is a mildly to moderately enjoyable farce. After the first episode, the continuity and factual errors become a nuisance. A glaring mark against this series are the continuous factual errors around actually living and going out into the sub-zero temperatures of Antarctica (going out into minus 40-60 without a hood on, excessive vulnerable body parts exposed, no sign of cold air when speaking, etc. etc. etc.). The clues that Maggie is one of Sarah Jackson’s two daughters is there from episode two. The rape scene that is about to turn violent, and leads to Sarah’s murder, combined with the subsequent haranguing over convincing and persuading everyone into collusion, was a waste of valuable screen time and felt counterfeit in and of itself. The last act, and last 8 minutes of the series, was hastily thrown in as we learn of Aki’s fate; murdered by [fake] Maggie to cover up the revenge plot. Truly, this would have been so much better if they’d simply stopped the obviously contrived and spurious efforts, and concentrated on keeping it simple. 2.8/5

So you liked it?

magically_delicious 3 points 4 years ago*. 3/5 stars. (Contains Spoilers)

Mildly to moderately, yes, depending on the episode. The last episode was mildly entertaining, the first episode held more promise, so moderately. Episodes 2 through 5 kept wavering. I wouldn’t watch it again, but that’s just me (some of my reasons stated above). :)

Another great season! Looks like there will be a season 3

PonderThis 2 points 4 years ago.

I know not all dramas that take place in the South Pole are going to be spooky. But, come on! You can’t possibly expect nothing odd to happen in such a remote place with no quick escape at all. Yet, the first episode has tweaked my curiosity and I will keep watching.

Just started watching this again because I found a site that shows it with subtitles. It’s good even though it has that European feel to it.

This sounds almost exactly like the premise of season 4 of true detective with Jody Foster.

Alsoavetswife 1 points 1 month ago.

Nothing like a good murder mystery! Only seen the 1st season, but wow!

NoelCoyotebleu 1 points 2 months ago.

Thanks for your comments everyone, this one passed my by, but will put it on a watchlist now.

i liked the story -nice simple whodunnit -but the reality they pose as Antarctic weather conditions are totally false and misleading -the wind at times can strip your flesh off any exposed body parts cuts like a knife
