I consider this a hidden gem mashing up the sci-fi AND Viking Age genres..don’t know how else to describe it lol…I love all movies set in the Viking eras and i also love all things sci-fi…this has BOTH! Not only that, but the Alien monster looks damn cool and is pretty darn scary lol. I come back to this movie every time i see it, so i WILL be watching this tonight. If you like sci-fi and vikings like i do, then give this a shot.
hi you might try reading “king david’s spaceship” by jerry pournelle . its a great sci fi where aliens land and fight medievil knights (and lose)
Another gem in this vein is Dan Simmons’ Ilium Cantos. the Greek gods are superpowered metahumans who live on Olympus Mons on Mars and have advanced technology. It turns the Trojan War into a hard science fiction masterpiece.

Outlander and Pathfinder I see as similar movies. Pathfinder has no UFO but an outsider who still helps his adopted clan survive. Both worth another watch.
The names are similar enough to confuse the two if you consume movies like potato chips. I’d have sworn I’d seen this but hadn’t.
Back in 1999 they made a futuristic sci-fi version of Beowulf. I watched it because Christopher Lambert was in it. It was crap. This isn’t crap. This is what they SHOULD have made then—albeit with Christopher Lambert instead of this Jim Caviezel guy. This guy’s a good actor but there can be only one Christopher Lambert. lol
What a great movie and a great surprise find. I wish they’d made a TV series out of it afterwards.

Very good older sci fi and Viking film. A good watch if you never saw it.
Some of the bezt movies turn out to be the ones you miss. Although this movie came out in 2008, it’s a great movie. I love watching vikings and monsters so watching one that has both in it was highly entertaining in my opinion. I may have to watch this one again soon.
