Masters of the Air follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the "Bloody Hundredth") as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air. Portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler's Third Reich, is at the heart of Masters of the Air. Some were shot down and captured; some were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve wondered where the planes came from that we see in this WWII series. This is what I found just in case you were wondering the same thing…..Fewer than a handful of the roughly 12,000 B-17s produced during WWII remain airworthy today, none of which appear on Masters of the Air, so re-creating an armada of four-engine bombers required some creativity, along with CGI technology. Two replica B-17s were built from scratch for the production.
There’s a WW2 aviation museum in Colorado Springs that restores WW2-era planes. They do tours and you can see some of the planes their WIPs.
Oh series finished now I can binge the last episodes. I really really dislike weekly drops.
Still no start date but should be out sometime this year……The third miniseries in Steven Spielberg’s World War II trilogy, following Band of Brothers and The Pacific, will no doubt be another epic television event. This time, as the name implies, Spielberg is heading to the skies to follow the efforts of the Mighty Eighth, a division of the Air Force, in the European theater of WWII as its pilots went on bombing runs and engaged in air-to-air combat. The potential here is staggering, and with a cast that includes man of the hour Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan, it’s primed for awards season.
An enjoyable watch and insight into the Bombers of WWII. It falls into the number 3 spot in best to worst of the series though. It’s hard to match the excitement of following Easy Company. The series goes 1,2,3 both literally and figuratively. Far from a bad mini series and worth the watch but just makes me want to rewatch Band of Brothers again. The Pacific was better than this but same feelings. 6/10
Finally, a release date. Masters of the Air, a new WWII miniseries from the team behind Band of Brothers, will premiere on January 26, 2024.
Watched the first episode really enjoyed it.
This mini series sounds good and the 3rd installment of the Band of Brothers and The Pacific set of World War II miniseries. Still no release date though. I will be looking forward to this one!
It Sucks dont watch it or thank me later
2024 and the cast is 100% cis white men. unbelievable. literally shaking rn.
I wasn’t impressed with band of brothers although it was more palatable than this gruel. Another example of buying faces and expecting everyone to overlook the hacky writing. If I was a 16 year old girl this might be appealing? 1/10
