A talk show has to have talk. Or does it? When the host of a public access TV show refuses to say anything at all, local viewers complain. How can the Station Manager allow such a disturbing spectacle? But the Manager’s hands are tied. Public access law protects the right of free speech. Or ‘non-speech,’ in this case. The Manager soon finds his job in jeopardy. He tries everything. Just when it looks like the Manager is history, the celebrity host of a national talk show calls and says he’s intrigued by the whole concept. Then silence is golden. But… only so long as it’s silence. |
