If you took the musical revolution of John Cage, the radical thinking of Marcel Duchamp, and the media anarchy of Nam June Paik, and put them in a blender; the result would be PICO (Performance Indeterminate Cage Opera). PICO is a video memoir celebrating the lineage of cultural revolution launched by these three avant grade artists, and their profound influence on video artist John Sanborn. PICO is a realization of the artistic seismic upheaval wrought by Cage and company, using the signs, symbols and statements they employed in their work and in their lives, mixed with personal stories about Sanborn’s connections to them and his interpretation of their intent. PICO is a personal mash up of modern music, live performance, dance, and vibrant video compositions. |
