NYLE, A wild-man night radio DJ lives completely alone in a house fit for more than one. He works at the local radio station, spinning music and giving life advice to an audience that never responds. His shift ends, and he climbs his favorite tree, cooks up hearty meals fit, and washes the dishes and his clothes by hand. He returns to the radio station and offers increasingly pensive advice to the ever-silent listener. He wanders the desolate streets swinging on empty porch swings, endlessly flipping coins, yelling into the echoing, empty night. He sits ever more dangerously on his favorite tree, spits out his homemade sandwich in disgust, and his wild yells turn from triumphant into pleading. He returns to the station to tell jokes, gives more advice and play free jazz, but the music begins to take over his life up until the point that whatever he might be saying is nonsense to any, if there are any, listeners. Nyle becomes suffocated by the landscape around him and fed up with the stagnant repetition of a life without the existence of others. |
