Film critics & fans love to say that The Matrix changed cinema and on many levels it did BUT The Truman Show did just as much for cinema on a more intrinsic & intuitive level. However, one fact still remains…Jim Carrey was brilliant and this role marked his transition from a silly comedy troupe member to a legit, dynamic actor.
First time watch, if you can believe it, and I finally get the hype. It is such a fun and unique movie, and it reminds me of my childhood when I had similar thoughts, though, I grew out of them. 5/5
Watched “The Social Dilemma” the other day with my kids. In that doco one of the talking heads make a reference to The Truman Show. My kids didn’t get the reference, so we’re going to watch it tonight (I originally saw it in 1998 and don’t know if I’ve seen it since then).
A fascinating and mind-bending classic!! Jim Carrey is incredible!! So is the hot babe he chases after!! I sometimes wonder if I’m a secret A-list star of a tv show because I’m obviously such an interesting and cool person and some really strange things have happened to me over the course of my glorious, sex-soaked life!! Like the other day I had a squirrel “walk” up to me and start to glitch out, and I coulda sworn it spoke to me!! Summing up: Great movie!! Recommeded for people who like to wonder and think about the meaning of it all!!
I think this was maybe the first time that I had seen Natasha McElhone in a film and yes, she’s both gorgeous and excellent in the role… she was great in another film that came out the same year (1998) with Robert De Niro called “Ronin.”
@jew_squirrel LMFAO
One of the most creative films ever conceived, let alone made and executed- The Truman Show is on all fronts an absolutely perfect film- and will stand the test of time as an absolute classic.
