Reynolds was inspired by Freakwave, Mad Max & Helen Of Troy when he made this. The one & only Jeanne Tripplehorn who went to school with Laura Linney plays Helen, while Tina Majorino plays Enola. Most people know her as playing Alice In Wonderland with Martin Short & others. This flick didn’t do so well here, but did great everywhere else. The comic book is even better & gives a lot of back story. Although it’s often referred to as sci-fi, there’s no science to the fiction. It’s straight up fantasy, but good. About killed Costner.
David Twohy went on to become a good writer and director, sci-fi included. imo.
You’ve got that right. PK Dick’s Impostor that Gary Sinise did with Madeleine Stowe as a pet project. Doesn’t get more sci-fi than that.
This is a good comment stream…
very good movie watched it many times and loved Costners’ character in it
