The story focuses on a young couple, both in their late twenties, living together and dealing with the unraveling of their relationship. When Donna reveals that she is pregnant, Michael feels trapped and starts to openly flirt with other women in front of her. Donna accuses him of infidelity and decides to end the pregnancy. The only thing left between them is silence; a sad, uneasy and very pregnant silence. The film uses the reverse form and the absence of dialogue to meticulously re-examine the intimate moments that add up to the relationship’s downfall. With it’s elegant hand-held cinematography the viewer benefits from what the couple doesn’t - hindsight. Silence is personal, honest and insightful. |
