Good directing as expected but the story is ok, nothing special.
It looked that way from the trailer. I fairly quickly thought oh it’s been done before. At least it’s pretty & acted well since Fincher directs it.
This was simply excellent. I also loved the inclusion of The Smiths music, it added such a funny layer for me as a fan comparing the lyrics to what was happening on screen at the time.
Love The Smiths. Was a huge fan back in the day. Funny, darkly witty w/plenty of sexual energy just underneath the surface. Had all their albums on vinyl & some on cd. Going to give this series a try since you mentioned their music is featured.
action packed but so quite. good stuff.
I agree, It made things odd with this calm like atmosphere, then it goes and kicks off out of left field. Not going to be for everyone, thats for sure.
Amazing Film! Why isn’t this on featured?
This film is pretty great. I am glad i found it.
Was a pretty good flick, really had a great fight scene in it, pretty brutal one as well, really liked the way they did that. Was a nice touch. Brutal as heck, but had some realism to it as well.
His best work
best movie of 2023
so I guess David Fincher is one of my preferred directors .
Why on earth do they put out CAM versions of Netflix shows??
I’ve never seen that happen before. Weird.
I saw it a few years ago.
Back when films had to be released in theaters too to be eligible for Oscars.
But I thot they’d changed that rule so that streaming movies would also be eligible now too.
Hilarious. But I guess….at least they tried?
Mystery of mysteries.
Well, what a brutal and utter letdown this was for Fincher’s latest opus and that is a sheer understatement. Being an admirer of his groundbreaking, thought-provoking storytelling and strong visual sense since I first saw Se7en in the theater back in ‘95. Then came The Game, Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake, Gone Girl and then this…The Killer. On the acting front, Fassbender’s deliberately impassive, emotionless performance and monotonous monologue can’t save the viewer from falling into a sleep-induced trance. The only redeeming factor this movie has going for it is that Last Supper scene between Swinton and Fassbender. Apart from that, it’s slow, tedious and lackluster.
You do understand he only directs his projects and doesn’t write them? He loved the graphic novel and has been working on this for years with good and bad luck. This holds true to the tonesand feel of the original in my opinion. Maybe look at the writers/stories Fincher chooses and then follow them rather than hold someone up to some weird standard because you liked a couple movies by him back in the 90s.
Given that he got his start directing music videos, I know full well that Fincher only directs and doesn’t pen his scripts As I already mentioned, I’ve been a deep admirer of his groundbreaking and stylish direction since Se7en came out. I didn’t just “like some of his movies from the 90’s”, the Social Network, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo remake and Gone Girl both came out respectively in 2010, 2011 and 2014. From a visual standpoint, I just don’t think the Killer is up to par with most of his previous movies.
this was good compared with benjamin button imo// seven and zodiac were great though
