Palmer is an emotional, mature drama about a formerly incarcerated man named Eddie Palmer who becomes friends with a gender-nonconforming child. The movie is compassionate and made with empathy, care, and positive representation. Great performances and a powerfully inclusive story. Enjoyed this film.

Very emotional and a great movie. Well done JT

Fantastic film. Brilliant writing and acting which says a lot since it was carried by the very green JT and the then 7-year old Ryder Allen - both with as much acting experience as each other. Really incredible film. Raises some very interesting ethical questions reminiscent of Gone Baby Gone.

I agree with almost everything you said on this film. The one thing I don’t is calling JT green and not having much acting before this move. JT had been in a lot of films before this one. At least 6 that I can think of from the top of my head.

JT does it again.

A good one time watch. Predictable, but ok.

It may have been predictable, but that tells me you were missing the point a bit. For me it was much less about what was going to happen and much more about what was happening and the interaction between the characters. It was more a character development film than plot-driven, though the plot was engaging enough to keep you interested. The way in which Palmer, Sam and his mother developed as people within the story was much more interesting than how events would unfold. You grow to sympathise with Sam’s mother after despising her, you feel for Sam as he innocently dances through the ignorant resistance of his surroundings (reflecting a very real mindset btw), and of course we all wanted to see Palmer break free from the burden of his past. These were the most interesting aspects of the film and I wonder whether maybe you’re more driven by how things unravel rather than how it impacts the characters, which is totally fine. Each to their own.
