Jack Viscariot is dead, which is the only thing certain in this case. He stumbles out of a restaurant only to be stabbed, shot, beaten, poisoned, and hit by a car. Five attacks, each one after the other and each just as likely to have killed him. Public pressure forces Dr. Theodore Nichols, Capt. John Chapman, DA Jeffrey Stride, Officer Timothy Eddowes, and Judge Charles Kelly to pool their knowledge together and maybe find out what really happened that night. The security footage is lost, and thus the team only has the case files to go on. They conclude that there has to be five murderers based on the physical evidence and tentative timeline. The team is not short of possible motives. Viscariot had a history of reckless behavior that ruined the lives and careers of many people. Only then it is revealed that each character at this meeting had more than enough reason to want him dead. Once confirmed that the case is publicly unsolvable, it is revealed that the five men searching for the truth were the five that killed Viscariot. Now convinced of each other’s silence, they now feel they can all walk away from the case.
