A young boy cowers in his bedroom, hiding from some unseen monster. When she approaches, it is not the boy she is after, but the teddy bear he clutches in his shaking hands. The Living Doll - with porcelain skin, a stuffed body and a plastic face - takes steals the bear and disappears into the bedroom closet. In a cardboard hallway in another dimension, the Doll makes her way past the corpses of other dolls. She enters a gate and comes to her wardrobe. She finds scissors and a needle with thread. She eviscerates the teddy bear and steals his stuffing, discarding him in the hallway to writhe in agony. The Doll pulls down a stocking to reveal a wound. Bloody stuffing fluffs out of the tear in her porcelain skin. She removes the old stuffing and packs the new in. She stitches herself up with the needle and thread, then pulls her stocking back up. She yawns, it is bed time. She climbs into her wardrobe for the night. In a little girl’s room atop a desk, the wardrobe is only one foot high. A small girl rushes into the room and opens it. She takes the Doll, now an inanimate toy, and hides under her bed. Something comes into the room. Its giant, fury feet creep toward the bed. The shadow of a giant stuffed rabbit is cast on the wall as it lurches toward the bed. |
